And the nations will know that the people of Israel went into exile for their sin, because they were unfaithful to me. So I hid my face from them and handed them over to their enemies, and they all fell by the sword.

The nations will then know why Israel was sent away to exile— it was punishment for sin, for they were unfaithful to their God. Therefore, I turned away from them and let their enemies destroy them.

你們的罪過使你們與上帝隔絕，你們的罪惡使祂轉臉不看你們，也不聽你們的祈求。

你們舉手禱告，我必掩面不理。即使你們禱告再多，我也不會聽，因為你們雙手沾滿鮮血。

「各國的人經過這城時都會彼此議論說，『為什麼耶和華這樣對待這座大城？』有人會回答，『因為城裡的人背棄了他們的上帝耶和華的約，供奉、祭拜其他神明。』」

因為你們毀約，我要用戰禍報應你們。你們躲進各城的時候，我要在你們中間降下瘟疫，使你們落在敵人手裡。

我不再掩面不顧以色列人，因為我要把我的靈澆灌在他們身上。這是主耶和華說的。』」

說，『這墮落的子民，不忠的兒女！我要掩面不理他們，看他們的結局如何。

若不是他們的磐石賣掉他們，若不是耶和華拋棄他們，一人怎能趕散他們千人？二人怎能擊潰他們萬人？

耶和華啊，你為何遠遠站著？為何在我遭難時隱藏起來？

耶和華向他們發怒，使他們遭到掠奪者的攻擊和四周仇敵的壓制，毫無抵抗之力。

耶路撒冷罪大惡極，淪為污穢之物。從前尊重她的人看見她赤身裸體，就蔑視她。她只能哀歎、退避。

城中的人與迦勒底人爭戰只會使自己的房屋堆滿死屍，因為我要在憤怒中毀滅他們。他們作惡多端，我必掩面不理這城。

那時，我要向他們發怒，離棄他們，掩面不理他們。他們將被吞滅，遭遇許多禍患和災難，以致他們會說，『這些禍患臨到我們豈不是因為上帝不在我們中間了嗎？』那時，我必掩面不理他們，因為他們祭拜別的神明，行為邪惡。

耶和華啊，你向我施恩，我便穩固如山；你掩面不理我，我就驚慌失措。

使他們落在列邦的手中，受敵人的轄制。

護衛長釋放耶利米之前對他說：「你的上帝耶和華曾說要在這裡降下災禍，現在果然應驗了。你們遭災是因為你們得罪了耶和華，不聽祂的話。

路人都拍掌嘲笑你。他們向耶路撒冷城搖頭，嗤笑道：「這就是那被譽為完美無瑕、普世喜悅的城嗎？」敵人都幸災樂禍地譏諷你，他們咬牙切齒地說：「我們吞滅了她！這是我們期待已久的日子！我們終於見到這一天了！」耶和華實現了祂的計劃，成就了祂很久以前的應許。祂毫不留情地毀滅了你，使你的仇敵幸災樂禍，耀武揚威。

這殿雖然宏偉，但將來經過的人必驚訝地問，『耶和華為什麼這樣對待這地方和這殿呢？』人們會回答，『因為他們背棄曾領他們祖先離開埃及的耶和華——他們的上帝，去追隨、祭拜、供奉別的神明，所以耶和華把這一切災禍降在他們身上。』」

無人呼求你，無人向你求助，因為你掩面不理我們，讓我們在自己的罪中滅亡。

雖然耶和華掩面不顧雅各家，但我仍要等候祂，冀望於祂。

誰把雅各交給了擄掠者，使以色列任人劫掠？難道不是被我們得罪的耶和華嗎？他們不肯遵行祂的道，也不聽從祂的訓誨。

他們殺人流血，祭拜偶像，玷污了那地方，所以我要把我的烈怒傾倒在他們身上，把他們驅散到列國，分散到列邦，照他們的行為報應他們。他們無論分散到何處，都使我的聖名受到褻瀆，因為外族人都談論他們說，『這些人是耶和華的子民，卻不得不離開耶和華的土地。』我顧惜我的聖名，就是以色列人在所去的列國褻瀆的聖名。「因此，你要告訴以色列人，主耶和華這樣說，『以色列人啊，我要行這事並非因為你們的緣故，而是因為我聖名的緣故，就是你們在所去列國褻瀆的聖名。我要使我偉大的名，就是你們在列國中所褻瀆的名，彰顯它的聖潔。我要當著列國的面在你們身上彰顯我的聖潔，那時他們就知道我是耶和華。這是主耶和華說的。

耶和華向他們發怒，把他們交在美索不達米亞王古珊·利薩田的手中，受古珊·利薩田統治八年。

這樣，你們四周其餘的民族便知道我耶和華已重建毀壞之處，重新耕種荒廢之地。我耶和華言出必行。』
