「你們去，站在聖殿裏，把這生命的一切話講給百姓聽。」使徒聽了這話，天將亮的時候就進聖殿裏去教導人。大祭司和他一起的人來了，叫齊議會的人和以色列人的眾長老，然後派人到監牢裏去把使徒提出來。但差役到了，不見他們在監裏，就回來稟報，說：「我們看見監牢關得很緊，警衛也站在門外，但打開門來，裏面一個人都不見。」守殿官和祭司長聽了這些話，心裏困惑，不知這事將來如何。有一個人來稟報說：「你們押在監裏的人，現在站在聖殿裏教導百姓。」於是守殿官和差役去帶使徒來，並沒有用暴力，因為怕百姓用石頭打他們。他們把使徒帶來了，就叫他們站在議會前。大祭司問他們，說：「我們不是嚴嚴地禁止你們，不可奉這名教導人嗎？看，你們倒把你們的道理充滿了耶路撒冷，想要叫這人的血歸到我們身上！」彼得和眾使徒回答：「我們必須順從神，勝於順從人。

耶和華說：「你出來站在山上，在耶和華面前。」看哪，耶和華從那裏經過。在耶和華面前有烈風大作，山崩石裂，耶和華卻不在風中；風後有地震，耶和華也不在其中；地震後有火，耶和華也不在火中；火以後，有輕微細小的聲音。以利亞聽見，就用外衣蒙臉，出來站在洞口。聽啊，有聲音向他說：「以利亞，你在這裏做甚麼？」

彼得和約翰回答他們說：「聽從你們，不聽從神，在神面前合理不合理，你們自己判斷吧！

眾人聽見這話，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其餘的使徒說：「諸位弟兄，我們該怎樣做呢？」

我就去，照着耶和華命令我的，把腰帶藏在幼發拉底河邊。過了多日，耶和華對我說：「你起來往幼發拉底河去，把我命令你藏在那裏的腰帶取出來。」我就往幼發拉底河去，把那腰帶從我所藏的地方挖出來。看哪，腰帶已經破爛，毫無用處了。

忽然，地大震動，甚至監牢的地基都搖動了，監門立刻全開，眾囚犯的鎖鏈也都解開了。獄警一醒，看見監門全開，以為囚犯已經逃走，就拔刀要自殺。保羅大聲呼叫：「不要傷害自己！我們都在這裏。」獄警叫人拿燈來，就衝進去，戰戰兢兢地俯伏在保羅和西拉面前。

忽然，有響聲從天上下來，好像一陣大風吹過，充滿了他們所坐的整座屋子；

耶利米說完了耶和華吩咐他對眾百姓說的一切話，祭司、先知與眾百姓都來抓住他，說：「你該死！
