『你們去站在殿裏，把這新生命之一切事，都向人民講。』他們聽了這話，天未亮就進殿去教訓人。大祭司和同着他的人就來，叫齊了議院和以色列人的全體耆老，差遣人到監獄裏，要把使徒提出來。差役到了，卻不見他們在監裏；就回來報告說：『我們看見監獄關得極妥當，守衛兵在各門外站着；趕到開了門，裏面卻一個人也沒見着。』守殿官和祭司長聽見了這些報告的話，心裏很為難，不知道事情要怎樣變化。有一個人來，向他們報告說：『你看，你們放在監裏的人、正站在殿裏教訓人民呢！』於是守殿官同差役去，把使徒帶來，並沒有用暴力，因為怕人民，恐怕他們被人用石頭打死。既把使徒帶到了，就叫他們站在議院中。大祭司詰問他們說：『我們再三地囑咐了你們、不可奉這個名教訓人。你看，你們倒把你們的教訓充滿了耶路撒冷，想要引這人的血債歸到我們身上來呢！』彼得和使徒們回答說：『我們應當服從上帝的權柄，而不服從人呀。

永恆主說：『你出來站在山上、在永恆主面前。』那時、永恆主正從那裏經過；在永恆主面前有大而強烈的風，裂山碎巖，永恆主卻不在風之中；風過後有地震，永恆主卻不在地震之中；地震之後有火，永恆主也不在火之中；火之後有聲音、低微而細弱。以利亞聽見，就用外衣蒙着臉，出來站在洞口；忽有聲音向他說：『以利亞啊，你在這裏作甚麼？』

但是彼得約翰卻回答他們說：『聽你們、過於聽上帝，這在上帝面前對不對，你們自己判斷吧。

眾人聽了，心裏被扎，就對彼得和其餘的使徒說：『同人弟兄們，我們應當怎樣行？』

我就去，將圍腰服埋藏在伯拉河那裏，照永恆主所吩咐我的。過了許多日子，永恆主對我說：『你起來，往伯拉河去，將我吩咐你埋藏在那裏的圍腰服取出來。』我就往伯拉河去刨，將圍腰服從我所埋藏的地方取出來；啊，已經壞了；毫無用處了。

驀然間起了大地震，甚至監獄的根基都搖動了，所有的門立時開了，大家的鎖鍊也都鬆掉了。看監獄的一睡醒了，看見監門全開着，以為囚犯都逃脫了，就拔了刀，要自殺。保羅大聲呼喊說：『別殺害自己，我們都在這裏。』看監獄的要了燈光，就蹦跳衝進去，戰戰兢兢，拜倒在保羅西拉面前；

驀然間有響聲從天上來、像猛烈的風颳着的響聲，充滿了他們所坐的整個屋子。

耶利米講完了永恆主所吩咐他對眾民說的一切話，祭司神言人和眾民都來捉住他，說：『你一定必須死！
