“你們去，站在殿裡，把一切有關這生命的話，都講給眾民聽。”使徒聽完了，就在黎明的時候，進到殿裡去教導。大祭司和他的同黨來到了，就召集了公議會和以色列人的眾長老，派人到監牢去帶使徒出來。差役到了監裡，找不到他們，回來報告說：“我們發現監門緊閉，獄卒也守在門外；等到開了門，裡面連一個人也找不到。”聖殿的守衛長和祭司長聽了這些話，覺得很困惑，不知道這件事將來會怎樣。忽然有人來報告說：“你們押在監裡的那些人，正站在殿裡教導眾民呢！”於是守衛長和差役去帶使徒來，不過沒有用暴力，因為怕眾民用石頭打他們。既然帶來了，就叫他們站在公議會前。大祭司問他們：“我們嚴厲地吩咐過你們，不准再奉這名教導。看，你們卻把你們的道理傳遍了耶路撒冷，想要把流這人的血的責任推到我們身上。”彼得和眾使徒回答：“服從神過於服從人，是應當的。

耶和華說：“你出來站在山上，在我耶和華面前。”那時，耶和華從那裡經過。在耶和華面前有強烈的大風，山崩石碎，但耶和華不在風中；風過以後有地震，但耶和華也不在地震中；地震過後有火，耶和華也不在火中；火後有低微柔和的聲音。以利亞聽見了，就用自己的外衣蒙著臉，走出來，站在洞口。忽然有聲音向他說：“以利亞啊，你在這裡幹甚麼？”

彼得和約翰回答：“聽從你們過於聽從神，在神面前對不對，你們自己說吧！

他們聽了以後，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其餘的使徒說：“弟兄們，我們應當作甚麼呢？”

我就照著耶和華所吩咐我的，去把腰帶藏在幼發拉底河那裡。過了多日，耶和華對我說：“起來，往幼發拉底河去，把我吩咐你藏在那裡的腰帶取出來。”於是我往幼發拉底河去，在那裡挖掘，把腰帶從我埋藏的地方取出來；看哪！腰帶已經腐爛了，完全沒用了。

忽然發生了大地震，以致監牢的地基都搖動起來，所有的監門立刻開了，囚犯的鎖鍊都鬆了。獄吏醒過來，看見監門全開，以為囚犯都已經逃脫了，就拔出刀來想要自刎。保羅大聲呼叫說：“不要傷害自己，我們都在這裡！”獄吏叫人拿了燈來，就衝進去，戰戰兢兢地俯伏在保羅和西拉面前，

忽然有一陣好像強風吹過的響聲，從天而來，充滿了他們坐在裡面的整間屋子。

耶利米說完了耶和華吩咐他對眾民所說的一切話，眾祭司、眾先知和眾民就抓住他，說：“你必要死！
