說：「你們到聖殿去，把這生命之道傳給百姓。」使徒遵從命令，在黎明的時候來到聖殿開始教導眾人。大祭司和他的同黨召集了所有公會的人和以色列的眾長老，然後派人去監獄把使徒押來受審。差役來到監獄時，發現使徒已經不見了，就回去稟告，說：「我們看見牢門緊鎖，守衛都站在門外，但打開門一看，裡面卻空無一人！」聖殿護衛長和祭司長聽後，都很困擾，不知道是怎麼回事。這時有人來報告說：「你們關押在牢裡的人正在聖殿裡教導人！」聖殿護衛長和差役再去把使徒抓回來。這次他們不敢動粗，生怕百姓會用石頭打他們。使徒被帶來後站在公會前，大祭司盤問他們，說：「我們不是嚴禁你們奉耶穌的名去教導百姓嗎？你們竟然在耶路撒冷各處傳道，還想把殺那人的血債歸到我們身上！」彼得和其他使徒申辯說：「我們要服從的是上帝，而非人。

耶和華說：「你出來站在山上，站在我面前。」耶和華從那裡經過時，疾風大作，劈山碎石，但耶和華不在風中。疾風過後又有地震，但耶和華不在其中。地震之後又有火，但耶和華也不在火中。之後，傳來微小的聲音。以利亞聽見後，就用外袍蒙著臉出去站在洞口。那聲音問他：「以利亞，你在這裡做什麽？」

但彼得和約翰答道：「要我們聽從你們而不聽從上帝，這在上帝看來合理嗎？你們自己想想吧。

他們聽了彼得的話，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其他使徒說：「弟兄們，我們該怎麼辦呢？」

於是，我照耶和華的吩咐把腰帶藏在那裡。多日後，耶和華對我說：「去幼發拉底河邊取回我吩咐你藏的腰帶。」我就去幼發拉底河邊把所藏的腰帶挖出來，但腰帶已經腐爛，不能用了。

突然間發生大地震，整座監獄的地基都搖動起來，牢門立刻全開了，囚犯的鎖鏈也都鬆開了。獄卒驚醒後，看見牢門盡開，以為囚犯已經逃走了，就想拔刀自殺。保羅見狀，大聲喝止：「不要傷害自己，我們都在這裡！」獄卒叫人拿燈過來，衝進內牢，戰戰兢兢地俯伏在保羅和西拉面前。

忽然，天上發出一陣響聲，好像狂風呼嘯而過，充滿了他們所在的房子，

耶利米傳達完耶和華的話之後，祭司、先知和民眾就抓住他，說：「你真該死！
