『人子啊，你要取一根木棍，上面寫上：「代表猶大和跟他聯合的以色列人」；又取一根木棍，上面寫上：「代表約瑟（以法蓮）和跟他聯合的以色列全家」。

“人子啊，你要取一根木杖，在其上写‘为犹大和他的同伴以色列人’；又取一根木杖，在其上写‘为约瑟，就是为以法莲，又为他的同伴以色列全家’。

“人子啊，你要取一根木杖，在其上写‘为犹大和他的盟友以色列人’；又取一根木杖，在其上写‘为约瑟，就是以法莲的杖，和他的盟友以色列全家’。

“人子啊，你要取一根木杖，在其上写‘为犹大和他的盟友以色列人’；又取一根木杖，在其上写‘为约瑟，就是以法莲的杖，和他的盟友以色列全家’。

“人子啊，你拿一根杖来，写上‘犹大和他的以色列同伴’，然后再拿另一根杖，写上‘约瑟，即以法莲，与他的以色列同伴’。

“人子啊！你要拿一根木杖，在上面写‘犹大和那些与他一起的以色列人’；又拿另一根木杖，在上面写‘以法莲的木杖，就是约瑟和与他一起的以色列全家’。

「人子啊，你要取一根木杖，在其上寫『為猶大和他的同伴以色列人』；又取一根木杖，在其上寫『為約瑟，就是為以法蓮，又為他的同伴以色列全家』。

「人子啊，你要取一根木杖，在其上寫『為猶大和他的盟友以色列人』；又取一根木杖，在其上寫『為約瑟，就是以法蓮的杖，和他的盟友以色列全家』。

「人子啊，你要取一根木杖，在其上寫『為猶大和他的盟友以色列人』；又取一根木杖，在其上寫『為約瑟，就是以法蓮的杖，和他的盟友以色列全家』。

「人子啊，你拿一根杖來，寫上『猶大和他的以色列同伴』，然後再拿另一根杖，寫上『約瑟，即以法蓮，與他的以色列同伴』。

“人子啊！你要拿一根木杖，在上面寫‘猶大和那些與他一起的以色列人’；又拿另一根木杖，在上面寫‘以法蓮的木杖，就是約瑟和與他一起的以色列全家’。

人子歟、其取一杖、書於上曰、是為猶大、及同儕以色列族、又取一杖、書於上曰、是為約瑟之以法蓮、及同儕以色列全家、

“ Son of man, take a stick of wood and write on it,‘ Belonging to Judah and the Israelites associated with him.’ Then take another stick of wood, and write on it,‘ Belonging to Joseph( that is, to Ephraim) and all the Israelites associated with him.’

“ Son of man, get a stick of wood. Write on it,‘ Belonging to the tribe of Judah and the Israelites who are connected with it.’ Then get another stick. Write on it,‘ Ephraim’s stick. Belonging to the tribes of Joseph and all the Israelites connected with them.’

“ Son of man, take a stick and write on it,‘ For Judah, and the people of Israel associated with him’; then take another stick and write on it,‘ For Joseph( the stick of Ephraim) and all the house of Israel associated with him.’

“ Son of man, take a piece of wood and carve on it these words:‘ This represents Judah and its allied tribes.’ Then take another piece and carve these words on it:‘ This represents Ephraim and the northern tribes of Israel.’

“ Son of man, take a single stick and write on it: Belonging to Judah and the Israelites associated with him. Then take another stick and write on it: Belonging to Joseph— the stick of Ephraim— and all the house of Israel associated with him.

“ Now you, son of man, take for yourself one stick and write on it,‘ For Judah and for the sons of Israel, his companions’; then take another stick and write on it,‘ For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and all the house of Israel, his companions.’

“ As for you, son of man, take a stick for yourself and write on it:‘ For Judah and for the children of Israel, his companions.’ Then take another stick and write on it,‘ For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel, his companions.’

And thou, son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:

“ As for you, son of man, take one branch, and write on it,‘ For Judah, and for the Israelites associated with him.’ Then take another branch and write on it,‘ For Joseph, the branch of Ephraim and all the house of Israel associated with him.’

“ You, son of man, take one stick, and write on it,‘ For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions.’ Then take another stick, and write on it,‘ For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions.’

他又招集了猶大便雅憫眾人，和在他們中間寄居的以法蓮人、瑪拿西人、西緬人：有許多以色列人來投奔亞撒，因為看見了永恆主他的上帝和他同在。

惟獨住猶大眾城市的以色列人、羅波安仍然作他們的王。

這樣，以色列人就背叛了大衛家、直到今日。

『你要告訴以色列人從他們各族取手杖，每一個父系的家屬一根手杖，從他們的眾首領、按着父系的家屬、共取十二根手仗。你要將各人的名字寫在各人的手杖上；也要將亞倫的名字寫在利未的手杖上，因為他們父系家屬的族長要各有一根手杖。

以色列眾民見王不聽他們的要求，就回答王說：『我們在大衛上有甚麼分兒呢？我們在耶西的兒子上並沒有業分呀。以色列人哪，回家去吧！大衛啊，現在只顧自己的家吧。』於是以色列人都回家去。惟獨住猶大城市的以色列人、羅波安仍作他們的王。羅波安王差遣掌管作苦工的人亞多蘭往以色列人那裏去；以色列眾人扔石頭砍他，砍到他死去。羅波安王猛速地上車，逃回耶路撒冷。這樣，以色列人就背叛了大衛家、直到今日。以色列眾人聽見耶羅波安從埃及回來了，便打發人去請他到會眾面前，就立他作王管理以色列眾人：除了猶大族派以外、沒有跟從大衛家的。

羅波安又將這些堡障防守得很堅固，安置將官在裏面，貯藏着糧食、油、酒；又在各城各邑設備了大盾牌和槍，將城防守得極其堅固。這樣、猶大和便雅憫就都隸屬於他。以色列全地的祭司和利未人各從他們的境界立定腳跟來擁護羅波安。利未人撇下了他們郊野的牧場和產業，來到猶大和耶路撒冷，是因為耶羅波安和他兒子們屏絕了他們，不許他們當祭司來事奉永恆主；耶羅波安卻為邱壇、為野山羊神、為自己所造的牛犢設立了祭司。以色列眾族派中凡立定心意尋求永恆主以色列之上帝的、都隨從利未人，來到耶路撒冷、向永恆主他們列祖的上帝宰獻祭牲。這樣，他們就使猶大國堅固，使所羅門的兒子羅波安強盛了三年，因為他們遵大衛和所羅門的道路行了三年。

然而亞設、瑪拿西、西布倫中也有人自己謙卑、來到耶路撒冷。上帝的手也用力在猶大中、使猶大人一心遵行王和大臣們憑永恆主的話所發的命令。二月有許多人民聚集在耶路撒冷，成了極多人的大眾，要守除酵之節。他們起來，把在耶路撒冷的祭壇和一切燒香的壇、盡都除掉，扔在汲淪谿谷中。二月十四日他們宰了逾越節的羊羔；祭司們和利未人們覺得慚愧，就潔淨自己為聖，把燔祭奉到永恆主殿中。遵着神人摩西的律法、照規矩站在自己的地位，祭司們從利未人們手裏接過來，將血去潑祭壇。在大眾中有許多人還沒有潔淨自己為聖，所以利未人有責任為一切不潔淨的人宰逾越節的羊羔，使他們在永恆主面前成為聖潔。實際上眾民中有大部分、屬以法蓮、瑪拿西、以薩迦、西布倫的人、許多沒有潔淨自己、便喫逾越節的羊羔，不遵照所記載的例：希西家就為他們禱告說：『凡立定心意、專一尋求上帝、永恆主他們列祖的上帝的，雖不遵照潔聖的潔淨禮，但願至善的永恆主也赦宥他。』
