therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the sovereign LORD: This is what the sovereign LORD says to the mountains and hills, the ravines and valleys, and to the desolate ruins and the abandoned cities that have become prey and an object of derision to the rest of the nations round about–

故此，以色列山要听主耶和华的话。大山小冈、水沟山谷、荒废之地、被弃之城，为四围其余的外邦人所占据、所讥刺的，

因此，以色列群山哪，要听主耶和华的话。对那遭四围其余列国占据、讥刺的大山小冈、水沟山谷、荒废之地、被弃之城，主耶和华如此说；

因此，以色列的山岭、溪流、幽谷、荒地、废墟以及那些被外族人掳掠和讥讽的城邑啊，你们要听主耶和华的话。’

因此，以色列的众山啊！你们要听主耶和华的话；主耶和华对大山、小冈、溪涧、山谷、荒凉的废墟，被弃的城，就是曾被四围列国中余剩的人所劫掠、所讥笑的，这样说：

故此，以色列山要聽主耶和華的話。大山小岡、水溝山谷、荒廢之地、被棄之城，為四圍其餘的外邦人所佔據、所譏刺的，

因此，以色列羣山哪，要聽主耶和華的話。對那遭四圍其餘列國佔據、譏刺的大山小岡、水溝山谷、荒廢之地、被棄之城，主耶和華如此說；

因此，以色列的眾山啊！你們要聽主耶和華的話；主耶和華對大山、小岡、溪澗、山谷、荒涼的廢墟，被棄的城，就是曾被四圍列國中餘剩的人所劫掠、所譏笑的，這樣說：

故此以色列眾山哪，你們要聽主永恆主的話；主永恆主對山和岡陵、對溪河跟平谷、對淒涼荒廢之地、對被棄之城、被四圍其餘外國人所掠劫所嗤笑的、這麼說：

以色列山岡歟、宜聽主耶和華言、主耶和華告諸山岡澗谷、荒蕪之區、委棄之邑、為四周列國遺民所刦掠譏誚者、

故以色列山宜聽我言、主耶和華告諸山岡溪谷、其地素有邑郊、今變荒蕪、為他邦之人所奪、加以譏刺、

今以色列諸山歟、當聽主言、主天主告諸山岡、澗溪、澗溪或作窪地下同山谷、荒蕪之地、寂寞之邑、為四周未滅之異邦人、所強奪、所譏刺、

therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign Lord: This is what the Sovereign Lord says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys, to the desolate ruins and the deserted towns that have been plundered and ridiculed by the rest of the nations around you—

Mountains of Israel, listen to the message of the Lord and King. He speaks to you mountains, hills, canyons and valleys. He speaks to you destroyed cities and deserted towns. The rest of the nations around you took away from you everything of value. They made fun of you.

therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God: Thus says the Lord God to the mountains and the hills, the ravines and the valleys, the desolate wastes and the deserted cities, which have become a prey and derision to the rest of the nations all around,

Therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign Lord. He speaks to the hills and mountains, ravines and valleys, and to ruined wastes and long deserted cities that have been destroyed and mocked by the surrounding nations.

therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD. This is what the Lord GOD says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys, to the desolate ruins and abandoned cities, which have become plunder and a mockery to the rest of the nations all around.

Therefore, you mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God. This is what the Lord God says to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys, to the desolate ruins and to the abandoned cities which have become plunder and an object of ridicule to the rest of the nations which are all around—

therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD! Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, the valleys, the desolate wastes, and the cities that have been forsaken, which became plunder and mockery to the rest of the nations all around—

therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Jehovah: Thus saith the Lord Jehovah to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the cities that are forsaken, which are become a prey and derision to the residue of the nations that are round about;

therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God. This is what the Lord God says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys, to the desolate ruins and abandoned cities, which have become plunder and a mockery to the rest of the nations all around.

Therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes, and to the cities that are forsaken, which became a prey and derision to the residue of the heathen that[ are] round about;

therefore, you mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Yahweh: The Lord Yahweh says to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the cities that are forsaken, which have become a prey and derision to the residue of the nations that are all around;

Instead, the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy is one of hills and valleys, a land that drinks in water from the rains,

They will no longer be prey for the nations and the wild beasts will not devour them. They will live securely and no one will make them afraid.

We have become an object of disdain to our neighbors; those who live on our borders taunt and insult us.

“ As for you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say:‘ O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD!

“ Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains and hills, the ravines and valleys,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: Look, I have spoken in my zeal and in my anger, because you have endured the insults of the nations.

Say,‘ Mountains of Israel, Hear the word of the sovereign LORD! This is what the sovereign LORD says to the mountains and the hills, to the ravines and the valleys: I am bringing a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places.

Look, the LORD is ready to devastate the earth and leave it in ruins; he will mar its surface and scatter its inhabitants.Everyone will suffer– the priest as well as the people, the master as well as the servant, the elegant lady as well as the female attendant, the seller as well as the buyer, the borrower as well as the lender, the creditor as well as the debtor.The earth will be completely devastated and thoroughly ransacked. For the LORD has decreed this judgment.The earth dries up and withers, the world shrivels up and withers; the prominent people of the earth fade away.The earth is defiled by its inhabitants, for they have violated laws, disregarded the regulation, and broken the permanent treaty.So a treaty curse devours the earth; its inhabitants pay for their guilt. This is why the inhabitants of the earth disappear, and are reduced to just a handful of people.The new wine dries up, the vines shrivel up, all those who like to celebrate groan.The happy sound of the tambourines stops, the revelry of those who celebrate comes to a halt, the happy sound of the harp ceases.They no longer sing and drink wine; the beer tastes bitter to those who drink it.The ruined town is shattered; all of the houses are shut up tight.They howl in the streets because of what happened to the wine; all joy turns to sorrow; celebrations disappear from the earth.The city is left in ruins; the gate is reduced to rubble.

I will stretch out my hand against them and make the land a desolate waste from the wilderness to Riblah, in all the places where they live. Then they will know that I am the LORD!”

He brought against them the king of the Babylonians, who slaughtered their young men in their temple. He did not spare young men or women, or even the old and aging. God handed everyone over to him.He carried away to Babylon all the items in God’s temple, whether large or small, as well as what was in the treasuries of the LORD’s temple and in the treasuries of the king and his officials.They burned down the LORD’s temple and tore down the wall of Jerusalem. They burned all its fortified buildings and destroyed all its valuable items.He deported to Babylon all who escaped the sword. They served him and his sons until the Persian kingdom rose to power.This took place to fulfill the LORD’s message delivered through Jeremiah. The land experienced its sabbatical years; it remained desolate for seventy years, as prophesied.

Your chosen cities have become a desert; Zion has become a desert, Jerusalem is a desolate ruin.Our holy temple, our pride and joy, the place where our ancestors praised you, has been burned with fire; all our prized possessions have been destroyed.

“ For the LORD says,‘ Only when the seventy years of Babylonian rule are over will I again take up consideration for you. Then I will fulfill my gracious promise to you and restore you to your homeland.

So I, the LORD, affirm that I will send for all the peoples of the north and my servant, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and all the nations that surround it. I will utterly destroy this land, its inhabitants, and all the nations that surround it and make them everlasting ruins. I will make them objects of horror and hissing scorn.I will put an end to the sounds of joy and gladness, to the glad celebration of brides and grooms in these lands. I will put an end to the sound of people grinding meal. I will put an end to lamps shining in their houses.This whole area will become a desolate wasteland. These nations will be subject to the king of Babylon for seventy years.’“‘ But when the seventy years are over, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation for their sins. I will make the land of Babylon an everlasting ruin. I, the LORD, affirm it!I will bring on that land everything that I said I would. I will bring on it everything that is written in this book. I will bring on it everything that Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations.

I replied,“ How long, sovereign master?” He said,“ Until cities are in ruins and unpopulated, and houses are uninhabited, and the land is ruined and devastated,

“‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: In the day I cleanse you from all your sins, I will populate the cities and the ruins will be rebuilt.The desolate land will be plowed, instead of being desolate in the sight of everyone who passes by.They will say,“ This desolate land has become like the garden of Eden; the ruined, desolate, and destroyed cities are now fortified and inhabited.”
