And wherever they went among the nations they profaned my holy name, for it was said of them,‘ These are the Lord’s people, and yet they had to leave his land.’

They treated my name as if it were not holy. They did it everywhere they went among the nations. People said about them,‘ They are the Lord’ s people. But they were forced to leave his land.’

But when they came to the nations, wherever they came, they profaned my holy name, in that people said of them,‘ These are the people of the Lord, and yet they had to go out of his land.’

But when they were scattered among the nations, they brought shame on my holy name. For the nations said,‘ These are the people of the Lord, but he couldn’t keep them safe in his own land!’

「你聽見了嗎？人們說，『耶和華已經棄絕了祂所揀選的以色列和猶大兩個國家。』他們藐視我的子民，視他們為亡國之民。

摩西懇求他的上帝耶和華說：「耶和華啊，你為什麼要向你的子民發烈怒呢？這些子民是你親自用神蹟和大能從埃及領出來的。難道你要讓埃及人議論說你領他們出來是出於惡意，是為了在山野之間殺掉他們，從地上滅絕他們嗎？求你息怒，施憐憫，不要降禍給你的子民。求你顧念你的僕人亞伯拉罕、以撒和以色列，你曾憑自己向他們起誓說，『我必使你們的後代像天上的星星那麼多。我應許給你們後代的這整片土地，我必賜給他們作永遠的產業。』」

迦南人和這一帶的人聽到這消息以後，必從四面八方來圍攻我們，將我們從地上斬盡殺絕。那時候，你的威名又何在呢？」

然而，我要使他們當中一些人免遭刀劍、饑荒和瘟疫，使他們可以在各國供述自己一切可憎的事。他們就知道我是耶和華。」

這些國家的神明哪個從我手中救了自己的國家呢？難道耶和華能從我手中救耶路撒冷嗎？』」

不要聽希西迦的話去倚靠耶和華，說什麼耶和華必拯救你們，這城必不會落在亞述王手中。』

如果你把他們全部消滅，那些聽過你威名的列國就會議論說，『耶和華無法把以色列人領到祂起誓要賜給他們的地方，所以在曠野把他們殺了。』

現在你們準備好，一聽見角、笛、弦琴、豎琴、瑟、笙等各種樂器的聲音，就要叩拜我造的像。不然，必立刻將你們扔進烈焰熊熊的火窯。那時什麼神明能從我手中救你們呢？」

「不要讓你所倚靠的上帝愚弄你，說什麼耶路撒冷必不會被亞述王攻陷。你肯定聽過亞述諸王掃滅列國的事，難道你能倖免嗎？我先祖毀滅了歌散、哈蘭、利色和提·拉撒的伊甸人，這些國家的神明救得了他們嗎？
