“ Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.

“ Son of man, I have appointed you as a prophet to warn the people of Israel. So listen to my message. Give them a warning from me.

“ So you, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me.

“ Now, son of man, I am making you a watchman for the people of Israel. Therefore, listen to what I say and warn them for me.

“ As for you, son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, give them a warning from me.

“ Now as for you, son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for the house of Israel; so you will hear a message from My mouth and give them a warning from Me.

“ So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me.

So thou, son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

“ As for you, son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from My mouth, give them a warning from Me.

“ This is what the Lord says: Stand in the courtyard of the Lord’s house and speak to all the people of the towns of Judah who come to worship in the house of the Lord. Tell them everything I command you; do not omit a word.

“ Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.When I say to a wicked person,‘ You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.“ Again, when a righteous person turns from their righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before them, they will die. Since you did not warn them, they will die for their sin. The righteous things that person did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.But if you do warn the righteous person not to sin and they do not sin, they will surely live because they took warning, and you will have saved yourself.”

“ Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said,“ and tell the people all about this new life.”

You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not rebel like that rebellious people; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”

Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.

“ Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them.

I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest,

As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

Let each one go home in peace.’”The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ Didn’t I tell you that he never prophesies anything good about me, but only bad?”Micaiah continued,“ Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne with all the multitudes of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left.And the Lord said,‘ Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?’“ One suggested this, and another that.Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the Lord and said,‘ I will entice him.’“‘ By what means?’ the Lord asked.“‘ I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,’ he said.“‘ You will succeed in enticing him,’ said the Lord.‘ Go and do it.’“ So now the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours. The Lord has decreed disaster for you.”Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah went up and slapped Micaiah in the face.“ Which way did the spirit from the Lord go when he went from me to speak to you?” he asked.Micaiah replied,“ You will find out on the day you go to hide in an inner room.”The king of Israel then ordered,“ Take Micaiah and send him back to Amon the ruler of the city and to Joash the king’s sonand say,‘ This is what the king says: Put this fellow in prison and give him nothing but bread and water until I return safely.’”Micaiah declared,“ If you ever return safely, the Lord has not spoken through me.” Then he added,“ Mark my words, all you people!”

Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of any of you.For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.

The best of them is like a brier, the most upright worse than a thorn hedge. The day God visits you has come, the day your watchmen sound the alarm. Now is the time of your confusion.

“ I have made you a tester of metals and my people the ore, that you may observe and test their ways.

There will be a day when watchmen cry out on the hills of Ephraim,‘ Come, let us go up to Zion, to the Lord our God.’”

Let the prophet who has a dream recount the dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?” declares the Lord.

In every case that comes before you from your people who live in the cities— whether bloodshed or other concerns of the law, commands, decrees or regulations— you are to warn them not to sin against the Lord; otherwise his wrath will come on you and your people. Do this, and you will not sin.

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house.

But Micaiah said,“ As surely as the Lord lives, I can tell him only what the Lord tells me.”

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,
