My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain.

My people come to you, just as they usually do. They sit in front of you. They hear what you say. But they do not put it into practice. With their mouths they say they love me. But in their hearts they want what belongs to others. They try to get rich by cheating them.

And they come to you as people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear what you say but they will not do it; for with lustful talk in their mouths they act; their heart is set on their gain.

So my people come pretending to be sincere and sit before you. They listen to your words, but they have no intention of doing what you say. Their mouths are full of lustful words, and their hearts seek only after money.

So my people come to you in crowds, sit in front of you, and hear your words, but they don’t obey them. Their mouths go on passionately, but their hearts pursue dishonest profit.

And they come to you as people come, and sit before you as My people and hear your words, but they do not do them; for they do the lustful desires expressed by their mouth, and their heart follows their unlawful gain.

So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their hearts pursue their own gain.

And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but do them not; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their gain.

So My people come to you in crowds, sit in front of you, and hear your words, but they don’t obey them. Although they express love with their mouths, their hearts pursue dishonest profit.

And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee[ as] my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love,[ but] their heart goeth after their covetousness.

They come to you in crowds, and they sit in front of you as my people. They hear your words, but do not obey them. For they talk lustfully, and their heart is set on their own advantage.

What was sown among the thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of this age and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue.For their heart was not right with him, neither were they faithful in his covenant.

The Lord said,“ Because this people draws near with their mouth and honors me with their lips, but they have removed their heart far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment of men which has been taught;

But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him?And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food,and one of you tells them,“ Go in peace. Be warmed and filled;” yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it?

But he said,“ On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”

He is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock. When a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it was founded on the rock.But he who hears, and doesn’t do, is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”

In the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, the Lord Yahweh’s hand fell on me there.

Therefore Yahweh’s word will be to them precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, fall backward, be broken, be snared, and be taken.

But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him?My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.

But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Yahweh heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me; and Yahweh said to me,“ I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. They have well said all that they have spoken.Oh that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!

But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sad, for he was one who had great possessions.

Then some of the elders of Israel came to me, and sat before me.

In the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, some of the elders of Israel came to inquire of Yahweh, and sat before me.Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,“ Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and tell them,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Is it to inquire of me that you have come? As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ I will not be inquired of by you.”’“ Will you judge them, son of man? Will you judge them? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers.Tell them,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ In the day when I chose Israel, and swore to the offspring of the house of Jacob, and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I swore to them, saying,‘ I am Yahweh your God;’in that day I swore to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.I said to them,‘ Each of you throw away the abominations of his eyes. Don’t defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am Yahweh your God.’“‘“ But they rebelled against me, and would not listen to me. They didn’t all throw away the abominations of their eyes. They also didn’t forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the middle of the land of Egypt.But I worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known to them, in bringing them out of the land of Egypt.So I caused them to go out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.I gave them my statutes, and showed them my ordinances, which if a man does, he will live in them.Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.“‘“ But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They didn’t walk in my statutes, and they rejected my ordinances, which if a man keeps, he shall live in them. They greatly profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them in the wilderness, to consume them.But I worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.Moreover also I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;because they rejected my ordinances, and didn’t walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols.Nevertheless my eye spared them, and I didn’t destroy them. I didn’t make a full end of them in the wilderness.I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Don’t walk in the statutes of your fathers. Don’t observe their ordinances or defile yourselves with their idols.I am Yahweh your God. Walk in my statutes, keep my ordinances, and do them.Make my Sabbaths holy. They shall be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am Yahweh your God.’“‘“ But the children rebelled against me. They didn’t walk in my statutes, and didn’t keep my ordinances to do them, which if a man does, he shall live in them. They profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.Nevertheless I withdrew my hand, and worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.Moreover I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations, and disperse them through the countries;because they had not executed my ordinances, but had rejected my statutes, and had profaned my Sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers’ idols.Moreover also I gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances in which they should not live.I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused all that opens the womb to pass through the fire, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am Yahweh.”’“ Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and tell them,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Moreover, in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.For when I had brought them into the land which I swore to give to them, then they saw every high hill, and every thick tree, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering. There they also made their pleasant aroma, and there they poured out their drink offerings.Then I said to them,‘ What does the high place where you go mean?’ So its name is called Bamah to this day.”’“ Therefore tell the house of Israel,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Do you pollute yourselves in the way of your fathers? Do you play the prostitute after their abominations?When you offer your gifts, when you make your sons pass through the fire, do you pollute yourselves with all your idols to this day? Should I be inquired of by you, house of Israel? As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I will not be inquired of by you!“‘“ That which comes into your mind will not be at all, in that you say,‘ We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.’

“ No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t serve both God and Mammon.

He said to them,“ Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.”He spoke a parable to them, saying,“ The ground of a certain rich man produced abundantly.He reasoned within himself, saying,‘ What will I do, because I don’t have room to store my crops?’He said,‘ This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.I will tell my soul,“ Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.”’“ But God said to him,‘ You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared— whose will they be?’So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

But he answered them,“ My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God, and do it.”

When Jeremiah had finished speaking to all the people all the words of Yahweh their God, with which Yahweh their God had sent him to them, even all these words,then Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men spoke, saying to Jeremiah,“ You speak falsely. Yahweh our God has not sent you to say,‘ You shall not go into Egypt to live there;’but Baruch the son of Neriah has turned you against us, to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they may put us to death, and carry us away captive to Babylon.”So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, didn’t obey Yahweh’s voice, to dwell in the land of Judah.But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, who had returned from all the nations where they had been driven, to live in the land of Judah;the men, and the women, and the children, and the king’s daughters, and every person who Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan; and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah;and they came into the land of Egypt; for they didn’t obey Yahweh’s voice: and they came to Tahpanhes.

She had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

“ When this people, or the prophet, or a priest, asks you, saying,‘ What is the message from Yahweh?’ Then you shall tell them,‘“ What message? I will cast you off,” says Yahweh.’As for the prophet, the priest, and the people, who say,‘ The message from Yahweh,’ I will even punish that man and his household.You will say everyone to his neighbor, and everyone to his brother,‘ What has Yahweh answered?’ and,‘ What has Yahweh said?’You will mention the message from Yahweh no more: for every man’s own word has become his message; for you have perverted the words of the living God, of Yahweh of Armies, our God.You will say to the prophet,‘ What has Yahweh answered you?’ and,‘ What has Yahweh spoken?’Although you say,‘ The message from Yahweh;’ therefore Yahweh says:‘ Because you say this word,“ The message from Yahweh,” and I have sent to you, telling you not to say,“ The message from Yahweh;”

Her princes within it are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, that they may get dishonest gain.

Yahweh says,“ Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths,‘ Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said,‘ We will not walk in it.’I set watchmen over you, saying,‘ Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said,‘ We will not listen!’

The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.

“ Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock.The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it didn’t fall, for it was founded on the rock.Everyone who hears these words of mine, and doesn’t do them will be like a foolish man, who built his house on the sand.The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell— and great was its fall.”

Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God.”

“ As for the word that you have spoken to us in Yahweh’s name, we will not listen to you.

Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God.
