“ Son of man, your people are talking about you. They are getting together by the walls of their houses and at their doors. They are saying to one another,‘ Come. Listen to the Lord’ s message.’

“你，人子啊，你本国的百姓在城墙旁边、在房屋门口谈论你。弟兄对弟兄彼此说：‘来吧！听听有什么话从耶和华而出。’

“你，人子啊，你本国的百姓在城墙旁边、在房屋门口谈论你。弟兄对弟兄彼此说：‘来吧！听听有什么话从耶和华而出。’

“人子啊，你的同胞在墙边和门口彼此议论你说，‘来，听听耶和华要他传什么信息。’

“人子啊！你本国的人在城墙旁边和各家的门口正在谈论你；弟兄对弟兄彼此说：‘来吧！听听有什么话从耶和华那里出来。’

「人子啊，你本國的子民在牆垣旁邊、在房屋門口談論你。弟兄對弟兄彼此說：『來吧！聽聽有甚麼話從耶和華而出。』

「你，人子啊，你本國的百姓在城牆旁邊、在房屋門口談論你。弟兄對弟兄彼此說：『來吧！聽聽有甚麼話從耶和華而出。』

「你，人子啊，你本國的百姓在城牆旁邊、在房屋門口談論你。弟兄對弟兄彼此說：『來吧！聽聽有甚麼話從耶和華而出。』

「人子啊，你的同胞在牆邊和門口彼此議論你說，『來，聽聽耶和華要他傳什麼信息。』

“人子啊！你本國的人在城牆旁邊和各家的門口正在談論你；弟兄對弟兄彼此說：‘來吧！聽聽有甚麼話從耶和華那裡出來。’

『你呢、人子啊，你本國的子民在牆邊、在房屋門口攻訐你，族弟兄對族弟兄彼此說：「來，來聽聽有甚麼話語出於永恆主。」

人子歟、爾民族在垣墉之側、門閾之間論爾、彼此相語曰、其來聽耶和華所出之言、

人子、爾民在垣墉之側、門閾之間、彼此相語、指爾而言曰、來聽耶和華所傳之諭、

惟爾人子歟、爾民在墻壁旁、在室門內議論爾、彼此相語曰、盍來聽有何言由主而出、

“ As for you, son of man, your people are talking together about you by the walls and at the doors of the houses, saying to each other,‘ Come and hear the message that has come from the Lord.’

“ As for you, son of man, your people who talk together about you by the walls and at the doors of the houses, say to one another, each to his brother,‘ Come, and hear what the word is that comes from the Lord.’

“ Son of man, your people talk about you in their houses and whisper about you at the doors. They say to each other,‘ Come on, let’s go hear the prophet tell us what the Lord is saying!’

“ As for you, son of man, your people are talking about you near the city walls and in the doorways of their houses. One person speaks to another, each saying to his brother,‘ Come and hear what the message is that comes from the LORD!’

“ But as for you, son of man, your fellow citizens who talk with one another about you by the walls and in the doorways of the houses, speak one with another, each with his brother, saying,‘ Come now and hear what the message is that comes from the Lord.’

“ As for you, son of man, the children of your people are talking about you beside the walls and in the doors of the houses; and they speak to one another, everyone saying to his brother,‘ Please come and hear what the word is that comes from the Lord.’

And as for thee, son of man, the children of thy people talk of thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from Jehovah.

“ Now, son of man, your people are talking about you near the city walls and in the doorways of their houses. One person speaks to another, each saying to his brother,‘ Come and hear what the message is that comes from the Lord!’

Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.

“ But as for you, son of man, your people( who are talking about you by the walls and at the doors of the houses) say to one another,‘ Come hear the word that comes from the LORD.’

“ As for you, son of man, the children of your people talk about you by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak to one another, everyone to his brother, saying,‘ Please come and hear what the word is that comes out from Yahweh.’

“‘ These people honor me by what they say. But their hearts are far away from me.

They sent their followers to him. They sent the Herodians with them.“ Teacher,” they said,“ we know that you are a man of honor. You teach the way of God truthfully. You don’t let others tell you what to do or say. You don’t care how important they are.Tell us then, what do you think? Is it right to pay the royal tax to Caesar or not?”

The Lord says,“ These people worship me only with their words. They honor me by what they say. But their hearts are far away from me. Their worship doesn’t mean anything to me. They teach nothing but human rules that they have been taught.

Day after day they worship me. They seem ready and willing to know how I want them to live. They act as if they were a nation that does what is right. They act as if they have not turned away from my commands. They claim to want me to give them fair decisions. They seem ready and willing to come near and worship me.

Here is what each of you people keeps on saying to your friends and other Israelites. You ask,‘ What is the Lord’ s answer?’ Or you ask,‘ What has the Lord spoken?’

You made a big mistake when you asked me to pray to the Lord your God. You said,‘ Pray to the Lord our God for us. Tell us everything he says. We’ll do it.’

Then all the army officers approached Jeremiah. They included Johanan, the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah, the son of Hoshaiah. All the people from the least important of them to the most important also came.All of them said to Jeremiah the prophet,“ Please listen to our appeal. Pray to the Lord your God. Pray for all of us who are left here. Once there were many of us. But as you can see, only a few of us are left now.So pray to the Lord your God. Pray that he’ll tell us where we should go. Pray that he’ll tell us what we should do.”“ I’ve heard you,” Jeremiah the prophet replied.“ I’ll certainly pray to the Lord your God. I’ll do what you have asked me to do. In fact, I’ll tell you everything the Lord says. I won’t keep anything back from you.”Then they said to Jeremiah,“ We’ll do everything the Lord your God sends you to tell us to do. If we don’t, may he be a true and faithful witness against us.It doesn’t matter whether what you say is in our favor or not. We’re asking you to pray to the Lord our God. And we’ll obey him. Things will go well with us. That’s because we will obey the Lord our God.”

The Lord told me about the evil plans of my enemies. That’s how I knew about them. He showed me what they were doing.I had been like a gentle lamb led off to be killed. I didn’t realize they had made plans against me. They had said,“ Let’s destroy the tree and its fruit. Let’s take away his life. Then his name won’t be remembered anymore.”

They said,“ Come on. Let’s make plans against Jeremiah. We’ll still have priests to teach us the law. We’ll always have wise people to give us advice. We’ll have prophets to bring us messages from the Lord. So come on. Let’s speak out against Jeremiah. We shouldn’t pay any attention to what he says.”
