In the twelfth year of our exile, in the tenth month on the fifth day, a man who had escaped from Jerusalem came to me and said,“ The city has fallen!”

It was the 12th year since we had been brought to Babylon as prisoners. On the fifth day of the tenth month, a man who had escaped from Jerusalem came to bring me a report. He said,“ The city has fallen!”

In the twelfth year of our exile, in the tenth month, on the fifth day of the month, a fugitive from Jerusalem came to me and said,“ The city has been struck down.”

On January 8, during the twelfth year of our captivity, a survivor from Jerusalem came to me and said,“ The city has fallen!”

In the twelfth year of our exile, in the tenth month, on the fifth day of the month, a fugitive from Jerusalem came to me and reported,“ The city has been taken!”

Now in the twelfth year of our exile, on the fifth of the tenth month, the survivor from Jerusalem came to me, saying,“ The city has been taken.”

And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, on the fifth day of the month, that one who had escaped from Jerusalem came to me and said,“ The city has been captured!”

跟随护卫长的迦勒底人全军拆毁了耶路撒冷周围的城墙。

又因着他所流无辜人的血，他使耶路撒冷满了无辜人的血，耶和华决不赦免。约雅敬其余的事迹和他所行的一切，不是都记在犹大列王的年代志上吗？约雅敬和他的祖先一同长眠，他的儿子约雅斤接续他作王。埃及王不再从本国出征，因为巴比伦王占据了所有从前属于埃及王的领土，从埃及小河直到幼发拉底河。

耶和华使迦勒底人的王上来攻打他们，在他们的圣殿里用刀杀了他们的壮丁，少男和少女以及年老衰弱的，他们都不怜惜；耶和华把所有这些人都交在迦勒底王的手里。迦勒底王把神殿里所有的器皿，无论大小，和耶和华殿里的财宝，以及王和众领袖的财宝，都带到巴比伦去。迦勒底人烧了神的殿，拆毁了耶路撒冷的城墙，用火烧了城里所有的宫殿，又毁坏了城里一切珍贵的器皿。脱离刀剑的人，迦勒底王都把他们掳到巴比伦去，作他和他的子孙的奴仆，直到波斯国兴起的时候。这样，就应验了耶和华藉耶利米所说的话：直到这地享满了安息，因为这地在荒凉的日子，就享安息，直到满了七十年。

岂没有逃脱的人来到你那里，使你听见这事吗？那时，你要向逃脱的人开口说话，不再作哑巴。你必成为他们的一个兆头。他们就知道我是耶和华。”

犹大王西底家第九年十月，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒率领他的全军来攻击耶路撒冷，把城围困起来。西底家第十一年四月九日，城被攻破。巴比伦王所有的将领：尼甲．沙利薛、三甲．尼波、大臣（“大臣”的本意不明确）撒西金、术士长（“术士长”的本意不明确）尼甲．沙利薛，以及巴比伦王所有其余的将领，都进城，坐在中门。犹大王西底家和所有的军兵看见了他们，就逃跑，在夜间逃出城外，经过王的花园，穿过两道城墙中间的门，直往亚拉巴的路上走去。但迦勒底人的军队追赶他们，在耶利哥的原野上追上了西底家，把他拿住，带到哈马地的利比拉去见巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒；尼布甲尼撒就宣判他的罪状。巴比伦王在利比拉，当着西底家眼前杀了他的众子；巴比伦王也杀了犹大所有的显贵，并且把西底家的眼睛弄瞎了，用铜链锁住他，把他带到巴比伦去。迦勒底人放火焚烧王宫和民房，又拆毁了耶路撒冷的城墙。

城终于被攻破了，所有的战士就在夜间从靠近王的花园的两墙中间的那门，逃跑出城。那时迦勒底人在四围攻城；他们就往亚拉巴的方向逃走。

西底家作王第九年十月十日，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒率领他的全军来攻打耶路撒冷；他们在城外安营，又在四周筑垒攻城。于是，城被围困，直到西底家王第十一年。四月九日，城里饥荒非常严重，甚至那地的人民都断了粮食。城终于被攻破了，所有的战士就在夜间从靠近王的花园的两墙中间的那门，逃跑出城。那时迦勒底人在四围攻城；他们就往亚拉巴的方向逃走。迦勒底人的军队追赶，在耶利哥的原野上把西底家追上了；他的全军都离开他四散了。他们把王擒住，把他解到哈马地的利比拉巴比伦王那里；他就宣判他的罪。巴比伦王在利比拉，当着西底家眼前杀了他的众子，也杀了犹大所有的领袖，并且把西底家的眼睛弄瞎，然后用铜链锁住他。巴比伦王把他带到巴比伦去，关在牢里，直到他去世的日子。五月十日，就是巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒第十九年，侍立在巴比伦王面前的护卫长尼布撒拉旦来到耶路撒冷。他放火焚烧耶和华的殿和王宫，以及耶路撒冷一切房屋，一切高大的房屋，他都放火烧了。跟随护卫长的迦勒底人全军拆毁了耶路撒冷周围所有的城墙。
