if they give back what they took in pledge for a loan, return what they have stolen, follow the decrees that give life, and do no evil— that person will surely live; they will not die.

They return things they take to make sure loans are repaid. They give back what they have stolen. They obey my rules that give life. They do not do what is evil. Then you can be sure they will live. They will not die.

For instance, they might give back a debtor’s security, return what they have stolen, and obey my life giving laws, no longer doing what is evil. If they do this, then they will surely live and not die.

撒該站起來對主說：「主啊，我要把我一半的財產分給窮人。我欺騙過誰，就還誰四倍。」

「倘若有人偷了別人的牛羊，然後宰了或賣了，他要用五頭牛抵償一頭牛，四隻羊抵償一隻羊。倘若有人打死正入屋偷竊的賊，這人不算犯殺人罪。倘若事情發生在白天，家主就犯了殺人罪。倘若盜賊被擒，他就要賠償家主，若他一無所有，就要把他賣為奴隸作賠償。倘若他偷的牲畜如牛、羊或驢在他手上還活著，他要償還失主雙倍。

「如果有人犯罪，不忠於耶和華，拒絕歸還同胞委託他保管的物品或抵押品，或搶掠同胞，或欺騙同胞，或撿到東西卻矢口否認，或起假誓，或犯其他類似的罪，他必須歸還一切靠偷盜、欺詐、侵佔、拾遺、或起假誓得來的東西，他必須在獻贖過祭那天如數歸還物主，並加賠五分之一。

不欺壓人，反而退還債戶的抵押品；不搶奪財物，反而給饑餓的人食物吃，給赤身露體的人衣服穿；

你們要遵守我的典章和律例。遵行的人必存活。我是耶和華。

夫妻二人遵行主的一切誡命和條例，無可指責，在上帝眼中是義人。

「『可是，以色列人卻在曠野背叛我，不遵行我的律例和典章——遵行的人必活著，大肆褻瀆我的安息日。我本想在曠野向他們發烈怒，滅絕他們。

「你們要公正地對待寄居者和孤兒，不可拿寡婦的衣物作抵押。

「如果你們借貸給同胞，不可走進他家裡索取抵押物；要站在外面，等他把抵押物拿出來。如果他是窮人，用自己的外袍作抵押，你們不可把他的外袍留到第二天，要在當天日落之前還給他，好讓他蓋著外袍睡覺。他會因此祝福你們，你們的上帝耶和華也會將此視為你們的義行。

他們牽走孤兒的驢，強取寡婦的牛作抵押。

倘若他把衣服給你作抵押，你要在日落之前把衣服還給他。因為他只有這件蔽體的衣服，若是沒有，他晚上如何睡覺？他若呼求我，我必定幫助他，因為我是仁慈的。

惡人奪去寡母懷中的孤兒，強取窮人的孩子作抵押，

你無故強取弟兄的物品作抵押，剝去貧寒者的衣服。

「『可是，他們的子孫卻背叛我，不恪守我的律例，不謹遵我的典章——遵守的人必活著。他們褻瀆我的安息日。我本想在曠野向他們發烈怒，傾倒我的怒氣，

「看啊，我快要來了，到時候我要按各人的行為施行賞罰。我是阿拉法，我是俄梅加；我是首先的，我是末後的；我是開始，我是終結。那些洗淨自己衣裳的人有福了！他們有權吃生命樹的果子，也可以從城門進入城中。

我永不忘記你的法則，因你藉著法則救了我的生命。

「你把以下條例告訴以色列人。「無論男女，若損害別人就是不忠於耶和華，就是犯罪。那人必須認罪，賠償損失，並且必須加賠五分之一。如果受害人已死，又沒有可以接受賠償的近親，賠償就屬於耶和華，要歸祭司所有。那人還要再獻上一隻公綿羊為自己贖罪。

倘若惡人離惡行義，他必救回自己的性命。因為他醒悟過來，痛改前非，必能活著，不致死亡。

在每座祭壇旁邊，他們把窮人典當的衣服鋪開，躺在上面，又在上帝的殿裡喝剝削來的酒。

欺壓貧窮困苦的人，搶奪財物，扣留債戶的抵押品，祭拜偶像，犯罪作惡，

不欺壓他人，不扣留抵押品，不搶奪財物，反而給饑餓的人食物吃，給赤身露體的人衣服穿，

「不可拿別人的磨或磨的上盤作抵押品，因為這等於拿他們的生命作抵押。
