‘ Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and tell him,“ You were likened to a young lion of the nations; yet you are as a monster in the seas. You broke out with your rivers, and troubled the waters with your feet, and fouled their rivers.”

“人子啊，你要为埃及王法老唱哀歌，对他说，“‘你自认为是列邦中的雄狮，其实你像激荡江河、用脚把江河搅浑的海怪。

“人子啊！你要为埃及王法老作一首哀歌，对他说：‘你像列国中的少壮狮子，又像海中的海怪，你在河中翻腾，用你的爪搅动河水，使江河浑浊。

「人子啊，你要為埃及王法老作哀歌，說：從前你在列國中，如同少壯獅子；現在你卻像海中的大魚。你衝出江河，用爪攪動諸水，使江河渾濁。

「人子啊，你要為埃及王法老唱哀歌，對他說，『你自認為是列邦中的雄獅，其實你像激蕩江河、用腳把江河攪渾的海怪。

“人子啊！你要為埃及王法老作一首哀歌，對他說：‘你像列國中的少壯獅子，又像海中的海怪，你在河中翻騰，用你的爪攪動河水，使江河渾濁。

『人子啊，你要為埃及王舉哀唱歌，對他說：『列國中的少壯獅子啊，你可完啦！你，你像海中的鱷魚；卻在你的江河裏衝激着，用你的腳攪濁了水，踹渾了眾水的江河。

人子歟、當為埃及王法老作哀歌、謂曰、爾於列國中、昔若壯獅、今若海中之鱷、衝突於爾河、以足攪水、使河渾濁、

人子、當為埃及王法老作哀歌、告之曰爾若獅之伏於民間、若鱷之居於海中、出入江河、足亂波濤、使水混濁、

人子、當為伊及王法老作哀歌、告之曰、爾若壯獅於列民間、若龍龍或作鱷於海中、爾出入江河、以足攪水、使河流渾濁、

“ Son of man, take up a lament concerning Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him:“‘ You are like a lion among the nations; you are like a monster in the seas thrashing about in your streams, churning the water with your feet and muddying the streams.

“ Son of man, sing a song of sadness about Pharaoh Hophra, the king of Egypt. Tell him,“‘ You are like a lion among the nations. You are like a monster in the sea. You move around wildly in your rivers. You churn the water with your feet. You make the streams muddy.’ ”

“ Son of man, raise a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him:“ You consider yourself a lion of the nations, but you are like a dragon in the seas; you burst forth in your rivers, trouble the waters with your feet, and foul their rivers.

“ Son of man, mourn for Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and give him this message:“ You think of yourself as a strong young lion among the nations, but you are really just a sea monster, heaving around in your own rivers, stirring up mud with your feet.

“ Son of man, lament for Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him,‘ You compare yourself to a lion of the nations, but you are like a monster in the seas. You thrash about in your rivers, churn up the waters with your feet, and muddy the rivers.

“ Son of man, take up a song of mourning over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him,‘ You compared yourself to a young lion of the nations, Yet you are like the monster in the seas; And you burst forth in your rivers And muddied the waters with your feet And fouled their rivers.’ ”

“ Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him:‘ You are like a young lion among the nations, And you are like a monster in the seas, Bursting forth in your rivers, Troubling the waters with your feet, And fouling their rivers.

Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say unto him, Thou wast likened unto a young lion of the nations: yet art thou as a monster in the seas; and thou didst break forth with thy rivers, and troubledst the waters with thy feet, and fouledst their rivers.

“ Son of man, lament for Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him: You compare yourself to a lion of the nations, but you are like a monster in the seas. You thrash about in your rivers, churn up the waters with your feet, and muddy the rivers.”

Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say unto him, Thou art like a young lion of the nations, and thou[ art] as a whale in the seas: and thou camest forth with thy rivers, and troubledst the waters with thy feet, and fouledst their rivers.

“ Son of man, sing a lament for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him:“‘ You were like a lion among the nations, but you are a monster in the seas; you thrash about in your streams, stir up the water with your feet, and muddy your streams.

Speak and say,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster that lies in the middle of his rivers, that has said,‘ My river is my own, and I have made it for myself.’

“ You, son of man, take up a lamentation over Tyre;

Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked, the lion’s cubs, and no one made them afraid?The lion tore in pieces enough for his cubs, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his caves with the kill, and his dens with prey.“ Behold, I am against you,” says Yahweh of Armies,“ and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions; and I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers will no longer be heard.”

Does it seem a small thing to you to have fed on the good pasture, but you must tread down with your feet the residue of your pasture? And to have drunk of the clear waters, but must you foul the residue with your feet?

“ Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and tell him,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ You were the seal of full measure, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

“‘“ This is the lamentation with which they will lament. The daughters of the nations will lament with this. They will lament with it over Egypt, and over all her multitude,” says the Lord Yahweh.’”

In that day, Yahweh with his hard and great and strong sword will punish leviathan, the fleeing serpent, and leviathan the twisted serpent; and he will kill the dragon that is in the sea.

“ Moreover, take up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,and say,‘ What was your mother? A lioness. She couched among lions, in the middle of the young lions she nourished her cubs.She brought up one of her cubs. He became a young lion. He learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.The nations also heard of him. He was taken in their pit; and they brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt.“‘ Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her cubs, and made him a young lion.He went up and down among the lions. He became a young lion. He learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.

Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions of it, will ask you,‘ Have you come to take the plunder? Have you assembled your company to take the prey, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?’”’

A lion has gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations. He is on his way. He has gone out from his place, to make your land desolate, that your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.

Awake, awake, put on strength, arm of Yahweh! Awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Isn’t it you who cut Rahab in pieces, who pierced the monster?

In their wailing they will take up a lamentation for you, and lament over you, saying,‘ Who is there like Tyre, like her who is brought to silence in the middle of the sea?’

“ Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her and the daughters of the famous nations, to the lower parts of the earth, with those who go down into the pit.

Judah is a lion’s cub. From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he crouched as a lion, as a lioness. Who will rouse him up?

Let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.

He couched, he lay down as a lion, as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Everyone who blesses you is blessed. Everyone who curses you is cursed.”

As a roaring lion or a charging bear, so is a wicked ruler over helpless people.

You divided the sea by your strength. You broke the heads of the sea monsters in the waters.You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces. You gave him as food to people and desert creatures.

Egypt rises up like the Nile, and his waters toss themselves like the rivers. He says,‘ I will rise up. I will cover the earth. I will destroy cities and its inhabitants.’
