你在伊甸－神的園中，佩戴各樣寶石，就是紅寶石、紅璧璽、金剛石、水蒼玉、紅瑪瑙、碧玉、藍寶石、綠寶石、紅玉；你的寶石有黃金的底座，手工精巧，都是在你受造之日預備的。

它的影子遮蔽羣山，枝子好像高大的香柏樹。

耶和華已經安慰錫安，安慰了錫安一切的廢墟，使曠野如伊甸，使沙漠像耶和華的園子；其中必有歡喜、快樂、感謝，和歌唱的聲音。

羅得舉目，看見約旦河整個平原，直到瑣珥，都是水源充足之地。在耶和華未毀滅所多瑪、蛾摩拉以前，那地好像耶和華的園子，又像埃及地。

耶和華神在東方的伊甸栽了一個園子，把所造的人安置在那裏。耶和華神使各樣的樹從土地裏長出來，可以悅人的眼目，好作食物。園子當中有生命樹和知善惡的樹。

我把它扔到陰間，與下到地府的人一同墜落。那時，列國聽見墜落的響聲就震驚；伊甸一切的樹木，就是黎巴嫩中得水滋潤、最佳最美的樹，在地底下都得了安慰。

在這樣的榮耀與威勢中，伊甸樹木有誰能與你相比呢？然而你要與伊甸的樹木一同到地底下；在未受割禮的人中，與被刀所殺的人一同躺下。「法老和他的軍隊正是如此。這是主耶和華說的。」

將軍對他們說：「你們去告訴希西家，大王亞述王如此說：『你倚賴甚麼，讓你如此自信滿滿？我說，你有打仗的計謀和能力，我看不過是空話。你到底倚靠誰，竟敢背叛我呢？看哪，你所倚靠的埃及是那斷裂的葦杖，人若倚靠這杖，它就刺進他的手，穿透它。埃及王法老向所有倚靠他的人都是這樣。你若對我說：我們倚靠耶和華－我們的神，希西家豈不是將神的丘壇和祭壇廢去，且吩咐猶大和耶路撒冷的人說：你們只當在這一個壇前敬拜嗎？現在你與我主亞述王打賭，我給你兩千匹馬，看你能否派得出騎士來騎牠們。若不然，怎能使我主臣僕中最小的一個軍官轉臉而逃呢？你難道要倚靠埃及的戰車和騎兵嗎？現在我上來攻擊毀滅這地，豈不是出於耶和華嗎？耶和華吩咐我說，你上去攻擊這地，毀滅它吧！』」以利亞敬、舍伯那、約亞對將軍說：「求你用亞蘭話對僕人說，因為我們聽得懂；不要用猶大話對我們說，免得傳到城牆上百姓的耳中。」將軍說：「我主差遣我來，豈是單對你和你的主人說這些話嗎？不也是對這些坐在城牆上，要與你們一同吃自己糞、喝自己尿的人說的嗎？」於是亞述將軍站着，用猶大話大聲喊着說：「你們當聽大王亞述王的話，王如此說：『你們不要被希西家欺哄了，因他不能拯救你們。不要聽憑希西家說服你們倚靠耶和華，他說，耶和華必要拯救我們，這城必不交在亞述王的手中。』你們不要聽希西家的話！因亞述王如此說：『你們要與我講和，出來投降，各人就可以吃自己葡萄樹和無花果樹的果子，喝自己井裏的水，等我來領你們到一個地方，與你們本地一樣，就是有五穀和新酒之地，有糧食和葡萄園之地。恐怕希西家誤導你們說，耶和華必拯救我們。列國的神明有哪一個曾救它本國脫離亞述王的手呢？

我見過惡人大有勢力，高聳如本地青翠的樹木。

然而，這並非他的意念，他的心不是這樣打算；他的心要摧毀，要剪除不少的國家。他說：「我的官長豈不都是君王嗎？迦勒挪豈不像迦基米施嗎？哈馬豈不像亞珥拔嗎？撒瑪利亞豈不像大馬士革嗎？既然我的手已伸到了這些有偶像的國，他們所雕刻的偶像過於耶路撒冷和撒瑪利亞的偶像，我豈不照樣待耶路撒冷和其中的偶像，如同我待撒瑪利亞和其中的偶像嗎？」主在錫安山和耶路撒冷成就他一切工作的時候，說：「我必懲罰亞述王自大的心和他高傲尊貴的眼目。」因為他說：「我所成就的事是靠我手的能力和我的智慧，因為我本有聰明。我挪移列國的地界，搶奪他們所積蓄的財寶，並且像勇士，使坐寶座的降為卑。我的手奪取列國的財寶，好像人奪取鳥窩；我得了全地，好像人拾起被棄的鳥蛋；沒有振動翅膀的，沒有張嘴的，也沒有鳴叫的。」

看哪，你總聽說亞述諸王向列國所行的是盡行滅絕，難道你能倖免嗎？我祖先所毀滅的，就是歌散、哈蘭、利色和提‧拉撒的伊甸人；這些國的神明何曾拯救他們呢？哈馬的王，亞珥拔的王，西法瓦音城的王，希拿和以瓦的王，都在哪裏呢？』」
