你曾在伊甸上帝園中，有各樣寶石做你的服飾：就是肉紅玉髓、黃玉、金鋼石、黃璧璽、水蒼玉、碧玉、藍寶石、紅玉、綠寶石；並且你的「手鼓」和你那裏的寶石座的巧工都是金的，是在你被創造的日子就整備了的。

它的蔭影遮滿了羣山；它的枝條蓋上了高大的香柏樹。

因為永恆主一定要安慰錫安，安慰她所有的荒場，使她的曠野像伊甸，她的荒漠像永恆主的園子；其中必有歡躍和喜樂，稱謝和歌唱聲；憂愁歎息盡都逃走。

羅得舉目，看見約但河那一片平原，沿到瑣珥的路向，各處水源充足，在永恆主還沒有毁滅所多瑪、蛾摩拉以前，就像永恆主的園子，就像埃及地一樣。

永恆主上帝在東方栽種了一個園子在伊甸，將所塑造的人放在那裏。永恆主上帝使各樣的樹從土地裏長起來：看了可喜愛，做食品好喫。園子當中又有生命樹和知識樹，能使人分別善惡。

我扔它下陰間、跟那些下陰坑的人在一起，那時列國聽見它墜落的響聲、就都震動，伊甸的眾樹、利巴嫩所有得水滋潤的、最佳最美的樹、在地府之最低處就都心平氣靜。

論光榮和昌大、在伊甸的眾樹中誰能這樣跟你相比呢？然而你卻要跟伊甸的眾樹一起被送下地府之最低處，在沒受割禮的人中間、跟被刀刺死的人長臥在一起。『這就是法老和他的眾民：永恆主發神諭說。』

參謀長對他們說：『你們去對希西家說：「大王亞述王這麼說：你所倚靠的這種倚靠心算得了甚麼？我說：單單嘴脣上的話便等於戰爭上的計謀和實力麼？你到底倚靠誰才背叛我呢？你看，你依靠這壓傷的蘆葦扶杖，依靠埃及；人若依賴它，這東西就刺進他手掌，把他刺透。埃及王法老對一切倚靠他的人就是這樣。你們若對我說：『我們是倚靠永恆主我們的上帝的』，那麼這永恆主豈不是那一位、希西家曾將他的邱壇和祭壇廢去，並且對猶大和耶路撒冷的人說：「你們要在這祭壇前敬拜」的麼？如今你可以和我的主上亞述王交換打賭的當頭：我給你二千匹馬，看你那一方面能派出足夠的人來騎牠不。若不然，你怎能使我主上最小的臣僕之中之一個軍長轉臉而逃呢？你竟倚靠埃及要得戰車和駿馬呀！現在我上來攻打這地方、要毁滅它，豈沒有永恆主的意思呢？永恆主曾對我說：「你上去攻打這地、而毁滅它。」』以利亞敬和舍伯那跟約亞對參謀長說：『請用亞蘭語對僕人說話，因為我們聽得來；不要用猶大語對我們說話，以致讓城上的人民曉得聽。』參謀長對他們說：『我主上差遣我來說這些話，豈是單單對你主上和你說的呢？不也是對這些坐在城上、要和你們一同喫自己糞喝自己尿的人說的麼？』於是參謀長站着，用猶大語大聲喊叫說：『你們要聽大王亞述王的話。王這麼說：「你們不要給希西家欺哄了，因為他實在不能援救你們；也不要讓希西家使你們倚靠永恆主、說：『永恆主一定會援救我們，而這城必不至於交在亞述王手裏。』你們不要聽希西家的話；因為亞述王這麼說：「你們要向我祝福請安，出來投降我，各人就可以喫自己葡萄樹、自己無花果樹的果子，喝自己井裏的水；等我來領你們到一個地像你們本地一樣；一個有五穀和新酒之地，一個有糧食和葡萄園之地，免得希西家教唆你們說：『永恆主一定會援救我們。』列國的神有哪一位曾援救過他的本地脫離亞述王的手呢？

我見過惡人強橫可怖，挺然高聳、像茂盛的香柏樹。

但他呢、卻不這樣思想；他心裏並不這樣打算；他心裏倒想毁滅，剪除不少的國。因為他說：『我的將帥不都是王麼？迦勒挪豈不像迦基米施麼？哈瑪豈不像亞珥拔麼？撒瑪利亞豈不像大馬色麼？我的手既抓到這些偶相之國，就是有雕像勝過耶路撒冷和撒瑪利亞的之雕像的，難道我不能辦耶路撒冷和她的偶像，正如我辦撒瑪利亞和她的偶相麼？』將來主在錫安山和耶路撒冷了結了他一切作為的時候，他必察罰亞述王心裏自大之表現和他眼目高傲之自炫。因為他說：『我所作的是靠我手的能力、和我的智慧；因為我很聰明；我挪移了別族之民的地界，搶掠了他們的準備庫，我像勇士使他們的居民低落。我的手抓到了別族之民的資財，好像人抓到鳥窩；我取得了全地，好像人拾取了被遺棄的雀蛋一樣；卻沒有動一動翅膀的，或是開一開口啁啾一聲的。』

看哪，你總聽說過亞述諸王怎樣將各地盡行毁滅歸神罷；難道你還能得援救麼？我列祖所毁滅的國：歌散、哈蘭、利色、和在提拉撒的伊甸人；這些國的神何曾援救過它們呢？哈馬的王、亞珥拔的王、西法瓦音城的王、希拿以瓦的王都在哪裏呢？」』
