你曾在伊甸神的园中，佩戴各样宝石，就是红宝石、红璧玺、金钢石、水苍玉、红玛瑙、碧玉、蓝宝石、绿宝石、红玉，和黄金；又有精美的鼓笛在你那里，都是在你受造之日预备齐全的。

它的影子遮满了山，枝子好像佳美的香柏树。

耶和华已经安慰锡安和锡安一切的荒场，使旷野像伊甸，使沙漠像耶和华的园囿；在其中必有欢喜、快乐、感谢，和歌唱的声音。

罗得举目看见约旦河的全平原，直到琐珥，都是滋润的，那地在耶和华未灭所多玛、蛾摩拉以先如同耶和华的园子，也像埃及地。

耶和华神在东方的伊甸立了一个园子，把所造的人安置在那里。耶和华神使各样的树从地里长出来，可以悦人的眼目，其上的果子好作食物。园子当中又有生命树和分别善恶的树。

我将它扔到阴间，与下坑的人一同下去。那时，列国听见它坠落的响声就都震动，并且伊甸的一切树，就是黎巴嫩得水滋润、最佳最美的树，都在阴府受了安慰。

在这样荣耀威势上，在伊甸园诸树中，谁能与你相比呢？然而你要与伊甸的诸树一同下到阴府，在未受割礼的人中，与被杀的人一同躺卧。“法老和他的群众乃是如此。这是主耶和华说的。”

拉伯沙基对他们说：“你们去告诉希西家说，亚述大王如此说：‘你所倚靠的有什么可仗赖的呢？你说，有打仗的计谋和能力，我看不过是虚话。你到底倚靠谁才背叛我呢？看哪，你所倚靠的埃及是那压伤的苇杖，人若靠这杖，就必刺透他的手。埃及王法老向一切倚靠他的人也是这样。你若对我说：我们倚靠耶和华我们的神。希西家岂不是将神的邱坛和祭坛废去，且对犹大和耶路撒冷的人说：你们当在这坛前敬拜吗？现在你把当头给我主亚述王，我给你二千匹马，看你这一面骑马的人够不够。若不然，怎能打败我主臣仆中最小的军长呢？你竟倚靠埃及的战车马兵吗？现在我上来攻击毁灭这地，岂没有耶和华的意思吗？耶和华吩咐我说，你上去攻击毁灭这地吧！’”以利亚敬、舍伯那、约亚对拉伯沙基说：“求你用亚兰言语和仆人说话，因为我们懂得；不要用犹大言语和我们说话，达到城上百姓的耳中。”拉伯沙基说：“我主差遣我来，岂是单对你和你的主说这些话吗？不也是对这些坐在城上、要与你们一同吃自己粪喝自己尿的人说吗？”于是，拉伯沙基站着，用犹大言语大声喊着说：“你们当听亚述大王的话。王如此说：‘你们不要被希西家欺哄了，因他不能拯救你们。也不要听希西家使你们倚靠耶和华说：耶和华必要拯救我们，这城必不交在亚述王的手中。不要听希西家的话，因亚述王如此说：你们要与我和好。出来投降我，各人就可以吃自己葡萄树和无花果树的果子，喝自己井里的水。等我来领你们到一个地方，与你们本地一样，就是有五谷和新酒之地，有粮食和葡萄园之地。你们要谨防，恐怕希西家劝导你们说：耶和华必拯救我们。列国的神有哪一个救他本国脱离亚述王的手呢？

我见过恶人大有势力，好像一棵青翠树在本土生发。

然而，他不是这样的意思；他心也不这样打算。他心里倒想毁灭，剪除不少的国。他说：“我的臣仆岂不都是王吗？迦勒挪岂不像迦基米施吗？哈马岂不像亚珥拔吗？撒玛利亚岂不像大马士革吗？我手已经够到有偶像的国；这些国雕刻的偶像过于耶路撒冷和撒玛利亚的偶像。我怎样待撒玛利亚和其中的偶像，岂不照样待耶路撒冷和其中的偶像吗？”主在锡安山和耶路撒冷成就他一切工作的时候，主说：“我必罚亚述王自大的心和他高傲眼目的荣耀。”因为他说：“我所成就的事是靠我手的能力和我的智慧，我本有聪明。我挪移列国的地界，抢夺他们所积蓄的财宝；并且我像勇士，使坐宝座的降为卑。我的手够到列国的财宝，好像人够到鸟窝；我也得了全地，好像人拾起所弃的雀蛋。没有动翅膀的；没有张嘴的，也没有鸣叫的。”

你总听说亚述诸王向列国所行的乃是尽行灭绝，难道你还能得救吗？我列祖所毁灭的，就是歌散、哈兰、利色，和属提拉撒的伊甸人；这些国的神何曾拯救这些国呢？哈马的王，亚珥拔的王，西法瓦音城的王，希拿和以瓦的王，都在哪里呢？’”
