你曾在上帝的伊甸園中，你曾佩戴各種寶石，有紅寶石、黃玉、鑽石、綠寶石、紅瑪瑙、碧玉、藍寶石、綠松石、翡翠，還鑲嵌著精美的黃金，這些在你受造的那天都已經預備妥當。

它的樹蔭遮蓋群山，枝子遮蔽香柏樹。

我必安慰錫安和錫安所有的荒場，使曠野像伊甸園，使沙漠變成我的園囿，裡面有歡喜、快樂、感謝和歌頌的聲音。

羅得舉目眺望，看見整個約旦河平原，遠至瑣珥，水源充足。在耶和華還沒有毀滅所多瑪和蛾摩拉之前，那地方就好像耶和華的伊甸園，又像埃及。

耶和華上帝在東方的伊甸開闢了一個園子，把祂所造的人安置在裡面。耶和華上帝使地面長出各種樹木，它們既好看又能結出可吃的果子。在園子的中間有生命樹和分別善惡的樹。

我將它與下墳墓的人一同拋到陰間時，列國聽見它墜落的響聲，都恐懼戰抖。伊甸園中的樹木和黎巴嫩水源充足、上好的樹木都在陰間得到安慰。

「『伊甸園的樹木中，誰能與你的威榮相比呢？然而你卻要與伊甸園的樹木一同下到陰間，躺臥在未受割禮的人當中，與被殺的人在一起。「『這就是法老和他百姓的結局。這是主耶和華說的。』」

亞述的將軍對他們說：「你們去告訴希西迦，偉大的亞述王說，『你憑什麼這樣自信呢？你所謂的戰略和軍力不過是空話。你究竟倚靠誰，竟敢背叛我？看啊，你所倚靠的埃及不過是一根破裂的蘆葦，倚靠它的必被刺破手。倚靠埃及王法老的下場都是這樣。』也許你說，『我們倚靠我們的上帝耶和華。』希西迦不是拆毀了祂的廟宇和祭壇，又吩咐猶大和耶路撒冷的人只能在這座祭壇前敬拜嗎？來，跟我主人亞述王打個賭，你若能找到兩千騎士，我就給你兩千匹馬！你們即使依靠埃及的戰車和騎兵，又怎能打敗我主人的一個最小的將領呢？更何況我來攻打、毀滅這地方不正是耶和華的意思嗎？耶和華吩咐我攻打、毀滅這地方。」以利亞敬、舍伯那和約亞對亞述的將軍說：「求你用亞蘭語跟僕人們說話，我們都聽得懂。求你不要用希伯來語跟我們說話，免得城牆上的人聽見。」亞述的將軍卻說：「難道我主派我來只對希西迦和你們說這些話嗎？不也是對城牆上的人說嗎？他們和你們一樣都要吃自己的糞，喝自己的尿。」於是，他站著用希伯來語大喊：「你們要聽偉大的亞述王的話，王說，『你們不要被希西迦欺騙，他不能救你們。不要聽希西迦的話去倚靠耶和華，說什麼耶和華必拯救你們，這城必不會落在亞述王手中。』不要聽希西迦的話。亞述王說，『你們要跟我講和，出來歸順我。這樣，你們就可以吃自己葡萄樹和無花果樹的果子，喝自己井裡的水。以後我會來領你們到一個地方，那裡和這裡一樣有五穀和新酒、餅和葡萄園。不要讓希西迦欺騙你們，以為耶和華必拯救你們。列國的神明中有哪個曾經從亞述王手中救他的國家呢？

我見過邪惡殘暴之人，乍看如蔥蘢的黎巴嫩香柏樹，

可是他卻不這樣想，心裡也不這樣盤算，他只想毀滅許多國家。他說，『我的臣僕都要做藩王！迦勒挪豈不是和迦基米施一樣嗎？哈馬豈不是和亞珥拔一樣嗎？撒瑪利亞豈不是和大馬士革一樣嗎？它們不是都被我征服了嗎？這些國家都在我的手中，他們雕刻的偶像不勝過耶路撒冷和撒瑪利亞的偶像嗎？我怎樣毀滅撒瑪利亞和它的偶像，也必怎樣毀滅耶路撒冷和它的偶像。』」主完成在錫安山和耶路撒冷要做的事後，必懲罰心裡狂妄、眼目高傲的亞述王。因為亞述王說：「我靠自己的力量和智慧成就了此事，因為我很聰明。我廢除列國的疆界，擄掠他們的財物，像勇士一樣征服他們的君王。我奪取列國的財物，好像探囊取物；我征服天下，不過是手到擒來；無人反抗，無人吭聲。」

你肯定聽過亞述諸王掃滅列國的事，難道你能倖免嗎？我先祖毀滅了歌散、哈蘭、利色和提·拉撒的伊甸人，這些國家的神明救得了他們嗎？哈馬王、亞珥拔王、西法瓦音城的王、希拿王和以瓦王如今在哪裡呢？」
