都為的是要使水旁的眾樹、樹身都不高聳，不將其樹梢挺立入於雲霄間，只要使凡所有得水滋潤的樹都不屹立於高聳中；因為他們都被交於死亡，交於地府之最低處、在人類中間、到那些下冥坑的人那裏。

使水濱諸木、不誇其崇高、其杪不入雲中、得灌溉之強者、不復聳立、俱必死亡、偃於下土、至歸墓之人中、○

使天下林木、植於水旁、勿誇其株高幹偉、枝葉蓁蓁、喬木森然、終必枯萎、偃於下土、與人之歸墓無異、

使水旁之諸樹、不復高大、不復枝葉茂盛、巔頂崇高、不復因崇高、使彼得灌溉之群樹、立於四周、因俱必枯而死、偃於地之深處、與人之下墓無異、

Therefore no other trees by the waters are ever to tower proudly on high, lifting their tops above the thick foliage. No other trees so well- watered are ever to reach such a height; they are all destined for death, for the earth below, among mortals who go down to the realm of the dead.

So trees that receive plenty of water must never grow so high that it makes them proud. Their tops must never be above the rest of the leaves. No other trees that receive a lot of water must ever grow that high. They are appointed to die and go down into the earth below. They will join human beings, who go down to the place of the dead.”

All this is in order that no trees by the waters may grow to towering height or set their tops among the clouds, and that no trees that drink water may reach up to them in height. For they are all given over to death, to the world below, among the children of man, with those who go down to the pit.

Let the tree of no other nation proudly exult in its own prosperity, though it be higher than the clouds and it be watered from the depths. For all are doomed to die, to go down to the depths of the earth. They will land in the pit along with everyone else on earth.

This happened so that no trees planted beside water would become great in height and set their tops among the clouds, and so that no other well-watered trees would reach them in height. For they have all been consigned to death, to the underworld, among the people who descend to the Pit.

so that all the trees by the waters will not be exalted in their stature, nor put their tops among the clouds, nor will any of their well watered mighty ones stand straight in their height. For they have all been turned over to death, to the earth beneath, among mankind, with those who go down to the pit.”

Didn’t your ancestors do the same things, so that our God brought all this calamity on us and on this city? Now you are stirring up more wrath against Israel by desecrating the Sabbath.” (niv)

These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come. (niv)

if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; (niv)

They lie with the uncircumcised, with those who go down to the pit.“ All the princes of the north and all the Sidonians are there; they went down with the slain in disgrace despite the terror caused by their power. They lie uncircumcised with those killed by the sword and bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.“ Pharaoh— he and all his army— will see them and he will be consoled for all his hordes that were killed by the sword, declares the Sovereign Lord.Although I had him spread terror in the land of the living, Pharaoh and all his hordes will be laid among the uncircumcised, with those killed by the sword, declares the Sovereign Lord.” (niv)

You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes.” (niv)

You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways. “‘ Which of the trees of Eden can be compared with you in splendor and majesty? Yet you, too, will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the earth below; you will lie among the uncircumcised, with those killed by the sword.“‘ This is Pharaoh and all his hordes, declares the Sovereign Lord.’” (niv)
