都為的是要使水旁的眾樹、樹身都不高聳，不將其樹梢挺立入於雲霄間，只要使凡所有得水滋潤的樹都不屹立於高聳中；因為他們都被交於死亡，交於地府之最低處、在人類中間、到那些下冥坑的人那裏。

使水濱諸木、不誇其崇高、其杪不入雲中、得灌溉之強者、不復聳立、俱必死亡、偃於下土、至歸墓之人中、○

使天下林木、植於水旁、勿誇其株高幹偉、枝葉蓁蓁、喬木森然、終必枯萎、偃於下土、與人之歸墓無異、

使水旁之諸樹、不復高大、不復枝葉茂盛、巔頂崇高、不復因崇高、使彼得灌溉之群樹、立於四周、因俱必枯而死、偃於地之深處、與人之下墓無異、

Therefore no other trees by the waters are ever to tower proudly on high, lifting their tops above the thick foliage. No other trees so well- watered are ever to reach such a height; they are all destined for death, for the earth below, among mortals who go down to the realm of the dead.

So trees that receive plenty of water must never grow so high that it makes them proud. Their tops must never be above the rest of the leaves. No other trees that receive a lot of water must ever grow that high. They are appointed to die and go down into the earth below. They will join human beings, who go down to the place of the dead.”

All this is in order that no trees by the waters may grow to towering height or set their tops among the clouds, and that no trees that drink water may reach up to them in height. For they are all given over to death, to the world below, among the children of man, with those who go down to the pit.

Let the tree of no other nation proudly exult in its own prosperity, though it be higher than the clouds and it be watered from the depths. For all are doomed to die, to go down to the depths of the earth. They will land in the pit along with everyone else on earth.

so that all the trees by the waters will not be exalted in their stature, nor put their tops among the clouds, nor will any of their well watered mighty ones stand straight in their height. For they have all been turned over to death, to the earth beneath, among mankind, with those who go down to the pit.”

then I will bring you down to be with those who descend to the Pit, to the people of antiquity. I will make you dwell in the underworld like the ancient ruins, with those who descend to the Pit, so that you will no longer be inhabited or display your splendor in the land of the living.

However, you will die like humans and fall like any other ruler.”

And just as it is appointed for people to die once— and after this, judgment—

Didn’t your ancestors do the same, so that our God brought all this disaster on us and on this city? And now you are rekindling his anger against Israel by profaning the Sabbath!”

These things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our instruction, on whom the ends of the ages have come.

and if he reduced the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes and condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what is coming to the ungodly;

Then all the men of his city will stone him to death. You must purge the evil from you, and all Israel will hear and be afraid.

All of them are slain, fallen by the sword— those who went down to the underworld uncircumcised, who once spread their terror in the land of the living. They bear their disgrace with those who descend to the Pit.Among the slain they prepare a bed for Elam with all her hordes. Her graves are all around her. All of them are uncircumcised, slain by the sword, although their terror was once spread in the land of the living. They bear their disgrace with those who descend to the Pit. They are placed among the slain.“ Meshech and Tubal are there, with all their hordes. Their graves are all around them. All of them are uncircumcised, slain by the sword, although their terror was once spread in the land of the living.They do not lie down with the fallen warriors of the uncircumcised, who went down to Sheol with their weapons of war, whose swords were placed under their heads and their shields rested on their bones, although the terror of these warriors was once in the land of the living.But you will be shattered and will lie down among the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword.“ Edom is there, her kings and all her princes, who, despite their strength, have been placed among those slain by the sword. They lie down with the uncircumcised, with those who descend to the Pit.All the leaders of the north and all the Sidonians are there. They went down in shame with the slain, despite the terror their strength inspired. They lie down uncircumcised with those slain by the sword. They bear their disgrace with those who descend to the Pit.“ Pharaoh will see them and be comforted over all his hordes— Pharaoh and his whole army, slain by the sword.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.“ For I will spread my terror in the land of the living, so Pharaoh and all his hordes will be laid to rest among the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.

All Israel will hear and be afraid, and they will no longer do anything evil like this among you.

You will be driven away from people to live with the wild animals, and you will feed on grass like cattle for seven periods of time, until you acknowledge that the Most High is ruler over human kingdoms, and he gives them to anyone he wants.”

But those who intend to destroy my life will go into the depths of the earth.They will be given over to the power of the sword; they will become a meal for jackals.

“ But you his successor, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, even though you knew all this.Instead, you have exalted yourself against the Lord of the heavens. The vessels from his house were brought to you, and as you and your nobles, wives, and concubines drank wine from them, you praised the gods made of silver and gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or understand. But you have not glorified the God who holds your life-breath in his hand and who controls the whole course of your life.

“‘ Who then are you like in glory and greatness among Eden’s trees? You also will be brought down to the underworld to be with the trees of Eden. You will lie among the uncircumcised with those slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his hordes. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.’”
