“ Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures, Who dwell securely, Who say in your heart,‘ I am, and there is no one else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, Nor shall I know the loss of children’;

“ And I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in security in the coastlands. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.

And the land of Judah will be a terror to Egypt; everyone who makes mention of it will be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the Lord of hosts which He has determined against it.

You will say,‘ I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’—

“ You Ethiopians also, You shall be slain by My sword.”

So the five men departed and went to Laish. They saw the people who were there, how they dwelt safely, in the manner of the Sidonians, quiet and secure. There were no rulers in the land who might put them to shame for anything. They were far from the Sidonians, and they had no ties with anyone.

Then they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation and Egypt their glory.

Then all the princes of the sea will come down from their thrones, lay aside their robes, and take off their embroidered garments; they will clothe themselves with trembling; they will sit on the ground, tremble every moment, and be astonished at you.

“ Arise, go up to the wealthy nation that dwells securely,” says the Lord,“ Which has neither gates nor bars, Dwelling alone.

The earth shakes at the noise of their fall; At the cry its noise is heard at the Red Sea.

The sword shall come upon Egypt, And great anguish shall be in Ethiopia, When the slain fall in Egypt, And they take away her wealth, And her foundations are broken down.“ Ethiopia, Libya, Lydia, all the mingled people, Chub, and the men of the lands who are allied, shall fall with them by the sword.”‘ Thus says the Lord:“ Those who uphold Egypt shall fall, And the pride of her power shall come down. From Migdol to Syene Those within her shall fall by the sword,” Says the Lord GOD.

Rise up, you women who are at ease, Hear my voice; You complacent daughters, Give ear to my speech.In a year and some days You will be troubled, you complacent women; For the vintage will fail, The gathering will not come.Tremble, you women who are at ease; Be troubled, you complacent ones; Strip yourselves, make yourselves bare, And gird sackcloth on your waists.
