In that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid, and great pain shall come upon them, as in the day of Egypt: for, lo, it cometh.

是日我必遣使駕舟、令安居之古實人震驚、加以慘怛、同於埃及遘災之日、其事伊邇、○

古實人安居無恐、斯時我必遣使駕舟、至其地、令彼震驚哀痛、與埃及降災之日無異、其日伊邇。

當是日我必遣使駕舟、我必遣使駕舟原文作必有使由我前出駕舟使安居之古實人震驚、則俱恐懼、與伊及遭災之日無異、其時速至、

“‘ On that day messengers will go out from me in ships to frighten Cush out of her complacency. Anguish will take hold of them on the day of Egypt’s doom, for it is sure to come.

“ At that time I will send messengers out in ships. They will terrify the people of Cush who are so contented. Cush will suffer greatly when Egypt falls. And you can be sure it will fall.”

“ On that day messengers shall go out from me in ships to terrify the unsuspecting people of Cush, and anguish shall come upon them on the day of Egypt’s doom; for, behold, it comes!

At that time I will send swift messengers in ships to terrify the complacent Ethiopians. Great panic will come upon them on that day of Egypt’s certain destruction. Watch for it! It is sure to come!

On that day, messengers will go out from me in ships to terrify confident Cush. Anguish will come over them on the day of Egypt’s doom. For indeed it is coming.

Woe to the land shadowing with wings, which[ is] beyond the rivers of Ethiopia:That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters,[ saying], Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!

As at the report concerning Egypt,[ so] shall they be sorely pained at the report of Tyre.

I will also vex the hearts of many people, when I shall bring thy destruction among the nations, into the countries which thou hast not known.Yea, I will make many people amazed at thee, and their kings shall be horribly afraid for thee, when I shall brandish my sword before them; and they shall tremble at[ every] moment, every man for his own life, in the day of thy fall.

Therefore hear now this,[ thou that art] given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I[ am], and none else beside me; I shall not sit[ as] a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:

And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I[ am] the LORD.

And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.

And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,

Ye Ethiopians also, ye[ shall be] slain by my sword.

Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that[ were] therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and[ there was] no magistrate in the land, that might put[ them] to shame in[ any] thing; and they[ were] far from the Zidonians, and had no business with[ any] man.

And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and lay away their robes, and put off their broidered garments: they shall clothe themselves with trembling; they shall sit upon the ground, and shall tremble at[ every] moment, and be astonished at thee.

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

All the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at thee, and their kings shall be sore afraid, they shall be troubled in[ their] countenance.

This[ is] the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I[ am], and[ there is] none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss,[ and] wag his hand.

Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars,[ which] dwell alone.

The Lord GOD hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.

And when this cometh to pass,( lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.

Howl, fir tree; for the cedar is fallen; because the mighty are spoiled: howl, O ye oaks of Bashan; for the forest of the vintage is come down.[ There is] a voice of the howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled.

And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years[ for] a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;

The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.

And the sword shall come upon Egypt, and great pain shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt, and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be broken down.Ethiopia, and Libya, and Lydia, and all the mingled people, and Chub, and the men of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the sword.Thus saith the LORD; They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: from the tower of Syene shall they fall in it by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.

Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird[ sackcloth] upon[ your] loins.
