“‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: I will destroy the idols, and put an end to the gods of Memphis. There will no longer be a prince from the land of Egypt; so I will make the land of Egypt fearful.

「主耶和華說，『我要毀滅偶像，剷除挪弗的神像。埃及再沒有君王，國內到處充滿恐懼。

主耶和華這樣說：“‘我必毀滅偶像，使虛無的神像從挪弗滅絕。必不再有君王從埃及地而出；我也必使懼怕臨到埃及地。

『主永恆主這麼說：我必毁滅偶像，必從挪弗使佛相滅絕：必不再有人君出自埃及地；我必將懼怕放於埃及地境內。

主耶和華曰、我必毀其偶像、絕其神像於挪弗、埃及不復有君、其地震驚、我使之然、

主耶和華又曰、我必斫其偶像、使不存於挪弗、埃及無君、庶民恐懼、

主天主如是云、我必毀滅偶像、自挪弗剿除神像、使伊及不復有君、使伊及人民、無不恐懼、

“‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says:“‘ I will destroy the idols and put an end to the images in Memphis. No longer will there be a prince in Egypt, and I will spread fear throughout the land.

The Lord and King says,“ I will destroy the statues of Egypt’s gods. I will put an end to the gods the people in Memphis worship. Egypt will not have princes anymore. I will spread fear all through the land.

“ Thus says the Lord God:“ I will destroy the idols and put an end to the images in Memphis; there shall no longer be a prince from the land of Egypt; so I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

“ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will smash the idols of Egypt and the images at Memphis. There will be no rulers left in Egypt; terror will sweep the land.

“‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: I will destroy the worthless idols and put an end to the false gods in Memphis. There will no longer be a prince from the land of Egypt. And I will instill fear in that land.

‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ I will also destroy the idols And make the images cease from Memphis. And there will no longer be a prince in the land of Egypt; And I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

‘ Thus says the Lord GOD:“ I will also destroy the idols, And cause the images to cease from Noph; There shall no longer be princes from the land of Egypt; I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause the images to cease from Memphis; and there shall be no more a prince from the land of Egypt: and I will put a fear in the land of Egypt.

This is what the Lord God says: I will destroy the idols and put an end to the false gods in Memphis. There will no longer be a prince from the land of Egypt. So I will instill fear in that land.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause[ their] images to cease out of Noph; and there shall be no more a prince of the land of Egypt: and I will put a fear in the land of Egypt.

“‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause the images to cease from Memphis. There will be no more a prince from the land of Egypt. I will put a fear in the land of Egypt.

The LORD will cross the sea of storms and will calm its turbulence. The depths of the Nile will dry up, the pride of Assyria will be humbled, and the domination of Egypt will be no more.

“ Make an announcement throughout Egypt. Proclaim it in Migdol, Memphis, and Tahpanhes.‘ Take your positions and prepare to do battle. For the enemy army is destroying all the nations around you.’

Even the soldiers from Memphis and Tahpanhes have cracked your skulls, people of Israel.

The LORD God of Israel who rules over all says,“ I will punish Amon, the god of Thebes. I will punish Egypt, its gods, and its kings. I will punish Pharaoh and all who trust in him.

What do I see?” says the LORD.“ The soldiers are terrified. They are retreating. They have been defeated. They are overcome with terror; they desert quickly without looking back.

I will pass through the land of Egypt in the same night, and I will attack all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both of humans and of animals, and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment. I am the LORD.

Here is a message about Egypt: Look, the Lord rides on a swift- moving cloud and approaches Egypt. The idols of Egypt tremble before him; the Egyptians lose their courage.“ I will provoke civil strife in Egypt, brothers will fight with each other, as will neighbors, cities, and kingdoms.The Egyptians will panic, and I will confuse their strategy. They will seek guidance from the idols and from the spirits of the dead, from the pits used to conjure up underworld spirits, and from the magicians.I will hand Egypt over to a harsh master; a powerful king will rule over them,” says the sovereign master, the LORD who commands armies.The water of the sea will be dried up, and the river will dry up and be empty.The canals will stink; the streams of Egypt will trickle and then dry up; the bulrushes and reeds will decay,along with the plants by the mouth of the river. All the cultivated land near the river will turn to dust and be blown away.The fishermen will mourn and lament, all those who cast a fishhook into the river, and those who spread out a net on the water’s surface will grieve.Those who make clothes from combed flax will be embarrassed; those who weave will turn pale.Those who make cloth will be demoralized; all the hired workers will be depressed.The officials of Zoan are nothing but fools; Pharaoh’s wise advisers give stupid advice. How dare you say to Pharaoh,“ I am one of the sages, one well-versed in the writings of the ancient kings?”But where, oh where, are your wise men? Let them tell you, let them find out what the LORD who commands armies has planned for Egypt.The officials of Zoan are fools, the officials of Memphis are misled; the rulers of her tribes lead Egypt astray.The LORD has made them undiscerning; they lead Egypt astray in all she does, so that she is like a drunk sliding around in his own vomit.Egypt will not be able to do a thing, head or tail, shoots and stalk.At that time the Egyptians will be like women. They will tremble and fear because the LORD who commands armies brandishes his fist against them.

Look! Even if they flee from the destruction, Egypt will take hold of them, and Memphis will bury them. The weeds will inherit the silver they treasure– thorn bushes will occupy their homes.

And also on that day,” says the LORD who rules over all,“ I will remove the names of the idols from the land and they will never again be remembered. Moreover, I will remove the prophets and the unclean spirit from the land.

He will set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt. He will burn their gods or carry them off as captives. He will pick Egypt clean like a shepherd picks the lice from his clothing. He will leave there unharmed.He will demolish the sacred pillars in the temple of the sun in Egypt and will burn down the temples of the gods of Egypt.”’”The LORD spoke to Jeremiah concerning all the Judeans who were living in the land of Egypt, those in Migdol, Tahpanhes, Memphis, and in the region of southern Egypt.

The LORD will terrify them, for he will weaken all the gods of the earth. All the distant nations will worship the LORD in their own lands.

I will restore the fortunes of Egypt, and will bring them back to the land of Pathros, to the land of their origin; there they will be an insignificant kingdom.It will be the most insignificant of the kingdoms; it will never again exalt itself over the nations. I will make them so small that they will not rule over the nations.
