‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ I will also destroy the idols And make the images cease from Memphis. And there will no longer be a prince in the land of Egypt; And I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

「主耶和華說，『我要毀滅偶像，剷除挪弗的神像。埃及再沒有君王，國內到處充滿恐懼。

主耶和華這樣說：“‘我必毀滅偶像，使虛無的神像從挪弗滅絕。必不再有君王從埃及地而出；我也必使懼怕臨到埃及地。

『主永恆主這麼說：我必毁滅偶像，必從挪弗使佛相滅絕：必不再有人君出自埃及地；我必將懼怕放於埃及地境內。

主耶和華曰、我必毀其偶像、絕其神像於挪弗、埃及不復有君、其地震驚、我使之然、

主耶和華又曰、我必斫其偶像、使不存於挪弗、埃及無君、庶民恐懼、

主天主如是云、我必毀滅偶像、自挪弗剿除神像、使伊及不復有君、使伊及人民、無不恐懼、

“‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says:“‘ I will destroy the idols and put an end to the images in Memphis. No longer will there be a prince in Egypt, and I will spread fear throughout the land.

The Lord and King says,“ I will destroy the statues of Egypt’s gods. I will put an end to the gods the people in Memphis worship. Egypt will not have princes anymore. I will spread fear all through the land.

“ Thus says the Lord God:“ I will destroy the idols and put an end to the images in Memphis; there shall no longer be a prince from the land of Egypt; so I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

“ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will smash the idols of Egypt and the images at Memphis. There will be no rulers left in Egypt; terror will sweep the land.

“‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: I will destroy the worthless idols and put an end to the false gods in Memphis. There will no longer be a prince from the land of Egypt. And I will instill fear in that land.

‘ Thus says the Lord GOD:“ I will also destroy the idols, And cause the images to cease from Noph; There shall no longer be princes from the land of Egypt; I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause the images to cease from Memphis; and there shall be no more a prince from the land of Egypt: and I will put a fear in the land of Egypt.

This is what the Lord God says: I will destroy the idols and put an end to the false gods in Memphis. There will no longer be a prince from the land of Egypt. So I will instill fear in that land.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause[ their] images to cease out of Noph; and there shall be no more a prince of the land of Egypt: and I will put a fear in the land of Egypt.

“‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: I will destroy the idols, and put an end to the gods of Memphis. There will no longer be a prince from the land of Egypt; so I will make the land of Egypt fearful.

“‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause the images to cease from Memphis. There will be no more a prince from the land of Egypt. I will put a fear in the land of Egypt.

And they will pass through the sea of distress And He will strike the waves in the sea, So that all the depths of the Nile will dry up; And the pride of Assyria will be brought down, And the scepter of Egypt will depart.

“ Declare in Egypt and proclaim in Migdol, Proclaim also in Memphis and Tahpanhes; Say,‘ Take your stand and get yourself ready, For the sword has devoured those around you.’

Also the men of Memphis and Tahpanhes Have shaved your head.

The Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:“ Behold, I am going to punish Amon of Thebes, and Pharaoh, and Egypt along with her gods and her kings, indeed, Pharaoh and those who trust in him.

Why have I seen it? They are terrified, They are retreating, And their warriors are defeated And have taken refuge in flight, Without facing back. Terror is on every side!” Declares the Lord.

For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night, and fatally strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the human firstborn to animals; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments— I am the Lord.

The pronouncement concerning Egypt: Behold, the Lord is riding on a swift cloud and is about to come to Egypt; The idols of Egypt will tremble at His presence, And the heart of the Egyptians will melt within them.“ So I will incite Egyptians against Egyptians; And they will fight, each against his brother and each against his neighbor, City against city and kingdom against kingdom.Then the spirit of the Egyptians will be demoralized within them; And I will confuse their strategy, So that they will resort to idols and ghosts of the dead, And to mediums and spiritists.Furthermore, I will hand the Egyptians over to a cruel master, And a mighty king will rule over them,” declares the Lord God of armies.The waters from the sea will dry up, And the river will be parched and dry.The canals will emit a stench, The streams of Egypt will thin out and dry up; The reeds and rushes will rot away.The bulrushes by the Nile, by the edge of the Nile And all the sown fields by the Nile Will become dry, be driven away, and be no more.And the fishermen will grieve, And all those who cast a line into the Nile will mourn, And those who spread nets on the waters will dwindle away.Moreover, the manufacturers of linen made from combed flax And the weavers of white cloth will be utterly dejected.And the pillars of Egypt will be crushed; All the hired laborers will be grieved in soul.The officials of Zoan are mere fools; The advice of Pharaoh’s wisest advisers has become stupid. How can you say to Pharaoh,“ I am a son of the wise, a son of ancient kings”?Well then, where are your wise men? Please let them tell you, And let them understand what the Lord of armies Has planned against Egypt.The officials of Zoan have turned out to be fools, The officials of Memphis are deluded; Those who are the cornerstone of her tribes Have led Egypt astray.The Lord has mixed within her a spirit of distortion; They have led Egypt astray in all that it does, As a drunken person staggers in his vomit.There will be no work for Egypt Which its head or tail, its palm branch or bulrush, may do.On that day the Egyptians will become like women, and they will tremble and be in great fear because of the waving of the hand of the Lord of armies, which He is going to wave over them.

For behold, they will be gone because of destruction; Egypt will gather them together, Memphis will bury them. Weeds will take possession of their treasures of silver; Thorns will be in their tents.

“ And it will come about on that day,” declares the Lord of armies,“ that I will eliminate the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered; and I will also remove the prophets and the unclean spirit from the land.

And I shall set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt, and he will burn them and take them captive. So he will wrap himself with the land of Egypt as a shepherd wraps himself with his garment, and he will depart from there safely.He will also smash to pieces the obelisks of Heliopolis, which is in the land of Egypt; and the temples of the gods of Egypt he will burn with fire.” ’ ”The word that came to Jeremiah for all the Jews living in the land of Egypt, those who were living in Migdol, Tahpanhes, Memphis, and the land of Pathros, saying,

The Lord will be terrifying to them, for He will starve all the gods of the earth; and all the coastlands of the nations will bow down to Him, everyone from his own place.

And I will restore the fortunes of Egypt and bring them back to the land of Pathros, to the land of their origin, and there they will be a lowly kingdom.It will be the lowest of the kingdoms, and it will not raise itself above the nations again. And I will make them small so that they will not rule over the nations.
