But the people of Israel are not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for all the Israelites are hardened and obstinate.

But the people of Israel do not want to listen to you. That is because they do not want to listen to me. All the Israelites are very stubborn.

But the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me: because all the house of Israel have a hard forehead and a stubborn heart.

But the people of Israel won’t listen to you any more than they listen to me! For the whole lot of them are hard hearted and stubborn.

The LORD said to Samuel,“ Do everything the people request of you. For it is not you that they have rejected, but it is me that they have rejected as their king.

The look on their faces testifies to their guilt; like the people of Sodom they openly boast of their sin. Too bad for them! For they bring disaster on themselves.

“ For the last twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year that Josiah son of Amon was ruling in Judah until now, the LORD has been speaking to me. I told you over and over again what he said. But you would not listen.Over and over again the LORD has sent his servants the prophets to you. But you have not listened or paid attention.

But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying,‘ We do not want this man to be king over us!’

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would have none of it!

That is why the rains have been withheld, and the spring rains have not come. Yet in spite of this you are obstinate as a prostitute. You refuse to be ashamed of what you have done.

Remember what I told you,‘ A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they obeyed my word, they will obey yours too.But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me.If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. But they no longer have any excuse for their sin.The one who hates me hates my Father too.If I had not performed among them the miraculous deeds that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen the deeds and have hated both me and my Father.

For her blood was in it; she poured it on an exposed rock; she did not pour it on the ground to cover it up with dust.

“ We will not listen to what you claim the LORD has spoken to us!

LORD, I know you look for faithfulness. But even when you punish these people, they feel no remorse. Even when you nearly destroy them, they refuse to be corrected. They have become as hardheaded as a rock. They refuse to change their ways.

I sent my servants the prophets to you people over and over again warning you not to do this disgusting thing I hate.But the people of Jerusalem and Judah would not listen or pay any attention. They would not stop the wickedness they were doing nor quit sacrificing to other gods.

but you are not willing to come to me so that you may have life.“ I do not accept praise from people,but I know you, that you do not have the love of God within you.I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me. If someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.How can you believe, if you accept praise from one another and don’t seek the praise that comes from the only God?“ Do not suppose that I will accuse you before the Father. The one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have placed your hope.If you believed Moses, you would believe me, because he wrote about me.But if you do not believe what Moses wrote, how will you believe my words?”

“ The one who listens to you listens to me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”
