But the people of Israel are not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for all the Israelites are hardened and obstinate.

But the people of Israel do not want to listen to you. That is because they do not want to listen to me. All the Israelites are very stubborn.

But the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me: because all the house of Israel have a hard forehead and a stubborn heart.

But the people of Israel won’t listen to you any more than they listen to me! For the whole lot of them are hard hearted and stubborn.

But the house of Israel will not want to listen to you because they do not want to listen to me. For the whole house of Israel is hardheaded and hardhearted.

耶和華對撒母耳說：「你就聽從民眾對你說的一切話。其實他們不是厭棄你，而是厭棄我作他們的王。

他們臉上的表情證實自己的不是；他們像所多瑪那樣公然顯露自己的罪；他們毫不隱藏。他們有禍了，因為他們為自己招來了災禍。

「他本國的人卻憎恨他，就差派特使在他背後去，說：『我們不要這個人做王統治我們。』

「耶路撒冷啊，耶路撒冷！這城殺害先知們，又用石頭砸死被差到她這裡的人！我多次想聚集你的兒女，像母雞把自己的小雞聚集在翅膀下，可是你們不願意！

你們當記住我對你們說過的話：「沒有一個奴僕大過他的主人。」他們既然逼迫了我，也會逼迫你們；如果他們遵守了我的話，也就會遵守你們的話。但是，因我名的緣故，他們會對你們做這一切事，因為他們不認識派我來的那一位。如果我沒有來，也沒有教導他們，他們就沒有罪；但如今，他們的罪無可推諉了。恨我的，也恨我的父。如果我沒有在他們當中做別人從未做過的事，他們就沒有罪；但如今他們雖然看到了，還是恨我和我的父。

可是你們不肯到我這裡來得生命。「我不接受從人而來的榮耀。不過我了解你們，你們裡面沒有屬神的愛。我奉我父的名來了，你們卻不接受我；如果有別人奉自己的名而來，你們倒會接受他。你們彼此接受榮耀，卻不尋求從獨一的神而來的榮耀，那怎麼能信呢？不要以為我將要在父面前控告你們，有一位控告你們的，就是你們所仰賴的摩西。事實上，如果你們信摩西，就會信我，因為他寫了關於我的事；如果你們不相信他所寫的，又怎麼會相信我的話呢？」

「聽從你們的，就是聽從我；拒絕你們的，就是拒絕我；拒絕我的，就是拒絕差派我來的那一位。」
