But the people of Israel are not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for all the Israelites are hardened and obstinate.

But the people of Israel do not want to listen to you. That is because they do not want to listen to me. All the Israelites are very stubborn.

But the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me: because all the house of Israel have a hard forehead and a stubborn heart.

But the people of Israel won’t listen to you any more than they listen to me! For the whole lot of them are hard hearted and stubborn.

But the house of Israel will not want to listen to you because they do not want to listen to me. For the whole house of Israel is hardheaded and hardhearted.

我派你到那些頑固不化的人那裡，向他們宣告，『主耶和華這樣說。』

耶和華對撒母耳說：「你照他們所說的去做吧，因為他們不是拒絕你，而是拒絕我做他們的王。

他們的表情顯出他們心術不正，他們跟所多瑪人一樣對自己的罪惡津津樂道，毫不隱瞞。他們必大禍臨頭，自招毀滅。

「從猶大王亞們的兒子約西亞執政第十三年，到今天已有二十三年。在這期間，我不斷把耶和華對我說的話傳給你們，你們卻充耳不聞。耶和華屢次差遣祂的僕人——眾先知警告你們，你們卻充耳不聞，毫不理會。

「可是他的人民卻憎恨他，他們隨後派一個代表團去請願說，『我們不要這人作我們的王。』

「耶路撒冷啊，耶路撒冷啊！你常殺害先知，又用石頭打死派到你那裡的使者。我多次想要招聚你的兒女，像母雞將小雞招聚在翅膀底下，可是你們卻不肯。

因此，秋雨不降，春雨不來。你卻仍然不知羞恥，一副娼妓的嘴臉。

你們要記住我說的話，『奴僕不能大過主人。』他們若迫害我，也必迫害你們；他們若遵行我的話，也必遵行你們的話。世人將因為我的名而這樣對待你們，因為他們不認識差我來的那位。我如果沒有來教導他們，他們就沒有罪了，但現在他們的罪無可推諉。恨我的，也恨我的父。我如果沒有在他們當中行過空前的神蹟，他們就沒有罪了。然而，他們親眼看見了，竟然還恨我和我的父。

這城沾滿血腥，任憑受害者的血流在光禿禿的磐石上，而不是流在地上用土掩蓋。

「我們不會聽從你奉耶和華的名對我們說的話。

耶和華啊，你要的不是誠實嗎？你責打他們，他們不感到疼痛；你嚴懲他們，他們仍不受教。他們屢教不改，臉比石頭還硬。

我屢次差遣我的僕人——眾先知警告他們不要再做令我深惡痛絕的事，他們卻毫不理會，不肯改掉向假神燒香的惡行。

但你們卻不肯到我這裡來得生命。「我不接受人所給予的榮耀，我知道你們沒有愛上帝的心。我奉我父的名來，你們不接受我；若有人奉自己的名來，你們卻接受他。你們喜歡互相恭維，卻不追求從獨一上帝來的榮耀，怎能信我呢？不要以為我會在父面前控告你們，其實控告你們的是你們一直信賴的摩西。你們若信摩西，就應該信我，因為他的書裡也提到我。如果你們連他寫的都不信，又怎能信我的話呢？」

耶穌繼續對門徒說：「誰聽從你們，就是聽從我；誰拒絕你們，就是拒絕我；拒絕我的，就是拒絕差我來的那位。」
