所以，看哪，我必與你和你的江河為敵，使埃及地，從密奪到色弗尼，直到古實邊界，全然廢棄荒蕪。人的腳不經過，獸的蹄也不經過，四十年之久無人居住。我要使埃及地成為荒蕪中最荒蕪的地，使它的城鎮變為荒廢中最荒廢的城鎮，共四十年之久。我必將埃及人分散到列國，四散在列邦。

驕傲在敗壞以先，內心高傲在跌倒之前。

敗壞之先，人心驕傲；要得尊榮，先有謙卑。

「主耶和華如此說：我要毀滅偶像，從挪弗除掉神像；不再有君王出自埃及地，我要使埃及地的人懼怕。我必令巴特羅荒涼，在瑣安放火，向挪施行審判。我要將我的憤怒傾倒在訓，埃及的堡壘上，要剪除挪的眾民。我必在埃及放火，訓必大大痛苦，挪被攻破，挪弗終日遭敵侵襲。亞文和比‧伯實的年輕人必倒在刀下，這些城鎮將被擄掠。我在答比匿折斷埃及的軛，使它驕傲的權勢止息。那時，日光必退去；至於這城，必有密雲遮蔽，鄰近的城鎮也遭擄掠。我要如此向埃及施行審判，他們就知道我是耶和華。」

埃及成為荒涼中最荒涼的國，它的城鎮變為荒廢中最荒廢的城鎮。我在埃及放火，幫助埃及的，都遭滅絕；那時，他們就知道我是耶和華。

對他們說：『萬軍之耶和華－以色列的上帝如此說：看哪，我必召我的僕人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒前來，安置他的寶座在所藏的這些石頭上；他要在其上支搭華麗的帳幕。他要來攻擊埃及地：定為死亡的，必致死亡；定為擄掠的，必遭擄掠；定為刀殺的，必被刀殺。我要用火點燃埃及眾神明的廟宇，巴比倫王要焚燒廟宇，擄去神像；他要圍住埃及地，好像牧人披上外衣，從那裏安然而去。他必打碎埃及地伯‧示麥的柱像，用火焚燒埃及眾神明的廟宇。』」
