“‘ Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: I am going to bring a sword against you and cut off both people and animals from you.

『故此永恆主這麼說：看吧，我必使刀劍來攻擊你，將人和牲口都從你中間剪除掉；

故主耶和華曰、我必使刃臨爾、絕爾人畜、

故主耶和華曰我必使利刃臨於爾國、人獸俱被殲滅、

故主天主如是云、我必使鋒刃臨於爾、自爾中翦滅人與畜、

“‘ Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will bring a sword against you and kill both man and beast.

So the Lord and King says,“ I will send Nebuchadnezzar’s sword against you. He will kill people and animals alike.

Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will bring a sword upon you, and will cut off from you man and beast,

“ Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will bring an army against you, O Egypt, and destroy both people and animals.

‘ Therefore the Lord God says this:“ Behold, I am going to bring upon you a sword, and I will cut off from you human and animal life.

‘ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Surely I will bring a sword upon you and cut off from you man and beast.

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and will cut off from thee man and beast.

“ Therefore this is what the Lord God says: I am going to bring a sword against you and wipe out man and animal from you.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast out of thee.

“‘ Therefore, this is what the sovereign LORD says: Look, I am about to bring a sword against you, and I will kill every person and every animal.

“‘ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:“ Behold, I will bring a sword on you, and will cut off man and animal from you.

“ Or suppose I bring a sword against that land and say,‘ Let a sword pass through it,’ so that I wipe out both people and animals from it.

“‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: I will put an end to the hordes of Egypt by the hand of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.

Fields will be bought in this land about which you are saying,‘ It’s a desolation without people or animals; it has been handed over to the Chaldeans!’

Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says:“ Look, my anger— my burning wrath— is about to be poured out on this place, on people and animals, on the tree of the field, and on the produce of the land. My wrath will burn and not be quenched.”

A sword will come against Egypt, and there will be anguish in Cush when the slain fall in Egypt, and its wealth is taken away, and its foundations are demolished.

therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: I will stretch out my hand against Edom and cut off both people and animals from it. I will make it a wasteland; they will fall by the sword from Teman to Dedan.

Then the LORD said,“ I will wipe mankind, whom I created, off the face of the earth, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky— for I regret that I made them.”

Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: I am going to give the land of Egypt to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, and he will carry off its wealth, seizing its spoil and taking its plunder. This will be his army’s compensation.I have given him the land of Egypt as the pay he labored for, since they worked for me.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.

This is the word the LORD spoke to the prophet Jeremiah about the coming of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon to defeat the land of Egypt:Announce it in Egypt, and proclaim it in Migdol! Proclaim it in Memphis and in Tahpanhes! Say,“ Take positions! Prepare yourself, for the sword devours all around you.”Why have your strong ones been swept away? Each has not stood, for the LORD has thrust him down.He continues to stumble. Indeed, each falls over the other. They say,“ Get up! Let’s return to our people and to our native land, away from the oppressor’s sword.”There they will cry out,“ Pharaoh king of Egypt was all noise; he let the opportune moment pass.”As I live— this is the King’s declaration; the LORD of Armies is his name— the king of Babylon will come like Tabor among the mountains and like Carmel by the sea.Get your bags ready for exile, inhabitant of Daughter Egypt! For Memphis will become a desolation, uninhabited ruins.Egypt is a beautiful young cow, but a horsefly from the north is coming against her.Even her mercenaries among her are like stall-fed calves. They too will turn back; together they will flee; they will not take their stand, for the day of their calamity is coming on them, the time of their punishment.Egypt will hiss like a slithering snake, for the enemy will come with an army; with axes they will come against her like those who cut trees.They will cut down her forest— this is the LORD’s declaration— though it is dense, for they are more numerous than locusts; they cannot be counted.Daughter Egypt will be put to shame, handed over to a northern people.The LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says,“ I am about to punish Amon, god of Thebes, along with Pharaoh, Egypt, her gods, and her kings— Pharaoh and those trusting in him.I will hand them over to those who intend to take their lives— to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and his officers. But after this, Egypt will be inhabited again as in ancient times.” This is the LORD’s declaration.

“ I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night and strike every firstborn male in the land of Egypt, both people and animals. I am the LORD; I will execute judgments against all the gods of Egypt.

I will cause many peoples to be appalled at you, and their kings will shudder with fear because of you when I brandish my sword in front of them. On the day of your downfall each of them will tremble every moment for his life.“‘ For this is what the Lord GOD says: The sword of Babylon’s king will come against you!I will make your hordes fall by the swords of warriors, all of them ruthless men from the nations. They will ravage Egypt’s pride, and all its hordes will be destroyed.I will slaughter all its cattle that are beside many waters. No human foot will churn them again, and no cattle hooves will disturb them.
