靠着你作生意的大智慧你增大了你的資財，你竟因你的資財而心裏高傲！——就因這樣，

以大智暨貿易、增益富厚、因而中心驕泰、

巧於貿易、日臻富厚、因而心驕、

爾甚巧於貿易、增益貲財、遂因貲財心驕、

By your great skill in trading you have increased your wealth, and because of your wealth your heart has grown proud.

You have used your great skill in trading to increase your wealth. You are very rich. So your heart has become proud.” ’ ”

Yes, your wisdom has made you very rich, and your riches have made you very proud.

By your great skill in trading you have increased your wealth, but your heart has become proud because of your wealth.

By your great wisdom, by your trade You have increased your riches, And your heart is haughty because of your riches—

By your great wisdom in trade you have increased your riches, And your heart is lifted up because of your riches),”

by thy great wisdom and by thy traffic hast thou increased thy riches, and thy heart is lifted up because of thy riches;—

By your great skill in trading you have increased your wealth, but your heart has become proud because of your wealth.”

By thy great wisdom[ and] by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:

Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them.

“ See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and sought refuge in his own destruction!”

“ Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord God:“ Because your heart is proud, and you have said,‘ I am a god, I sit in the seat of the gods, in the heart of the seas,’ yet you are but a man, and no god, though you make your heart like the heart of a god—

but when they had grazed, they became full, they were filled, and their heart was lifted up; therefore they forgot me.

Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.

Come now, you who say,“ Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”—yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

A merchant, in whose hands are false balances, he loves to oppress.Ephraim has said,“ Ah, but I am rich; I have found wealth for myself; in all my labors they cannot find in me iniquity or sin.”

Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble.

and houses full of all good things that you did not fill, and cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant— and when you eat and are full,then take care lest you forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied,then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery,

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.

Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!

“ If I have made gold my trust or called fine gold my confidence,if I have rejoiced because my wealth was abundant or because my hand had found much,

You say,‘ See, I have struck down Edom,’ and your heart has lifted you up in boastfulness. But now stay at home. Why should you provoke trouble so that you fall, you and Judah with you?”

Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy.

And on many waters your revenue was the grain of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile; you were the merchant of the nations.

and the king answered and said,“ Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?”

Tyre has built herself a rampart and heaped up silver like dust, and fine gold like the mud of the streets.

And he told them a parable, saying,“ The land of a rich man produced plentifully,and he thought to himself,‘ What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’And he said,‘ I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.And I will say to my soul,“ Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’But God said to him,‘ Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

Who has purposed this against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, whose merchants were princes, whose traders were the honored of the earth?

lest I be full and deny you and say,“ Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.

“ Tarshish did business with you because of your great wealth of every kind; silver, iron, tin, and lead they exchanged for your wares.Javan, Tubal, and Meshech traded with you; they exchanged human beings and vessels of bronze for your merchandise.From Beth-togarmah they exchanged horses, war horses, and mules for your wares.The men of Dedan traded with you. Many coastlands were your own special markets; they brought you in payment ivory tusks and ebony.Syria did business with you because of your abundant goods; they exchanged for your wares emeralds, purple, embroidered work, fine linen, coral, and ruby.Judah and the land of Israel traded with you; they exchanged for your merchandise wheat of Minnith, meal, honey, oil, and balm.Damascus did business with you for your abundant goods, because of your great wealth of every kind; wine of Helbon and wool of Saharand casks of wine from Uzal they exchanged for your wares; wrought iron, cassia, and calamus were bartered for your merchandise.Dedan traded with you in saddlecloths for riding.Arabia and all the princes of Kedar were your favored dealers in lambs, rams, and goats; in these they did business with you.The traders of Sheba and Raamah traded with you; they exchanged for your wares the best of all kinds of spices and all precious stones and gold.Haran, Canneh, Eden, traders of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad traded with you.In your market these traded with you in choice garments, in clothes of blue and embroidered work, and in carpets of colored material, bound with cords and made secure.The ships of Tarshish traveled for you with your merchandise. So you were filled and heavily laden in the heart of the seas.“ Your rowers have brought you out into the high seas. The east wind has wrecked you in the heart of the seas.Your riches, your wares, your merchandise, your mariners and your pilots, your caulkers, your dealers in merchandise, and all your men of war who are in you, with all your crew that is in your midst, sink into the heart of the seas on the day of your fall.At the sound of the cry of your pilots the countryside shakes,and down from their ships come all who handle the oar. The mariners and all the pilots of the sea stand on the landand shout aloud over you and cry out bitterly. They cast dust on their heads and wallow in ashes;they make themselves bald for you and put sackcloth on their waist, and they weep over you in bitterness of soul, with bitter mourning.In their wailing they raise a lamentation for you and lament over you:‘ Who is like Tyre, like one destroyed in the midst of the sea?When your wares came from the seas, you satisfied many peoples; with your abundant wealth and merchandise you enriched the kings of the earth.Now you are wrecked by the seas, in the depths of the waters; your merchandise and all your crew in your midst have sunk with you.All the inhabitants of the coastlands are appalled at you, and the hair of their kings bristles with horror; their faces are convulsed.The merchants among the peoples hiss at you; you have come to a dreadful end and shall be no more forever.’”

for he says:“ Are not my commanders all kings?Is not Calno like Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus?As my hand has reached to the kingdoms of the idols, whose carved images were greater than those of Jerusalem and Samaria,shall I not do to Jerusalem and her idols as I have done to Samaria and her images?”When the Lord has finished all his work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, he will punish the speech of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the boastful look in his eyes.For he says:“ By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I have understanding; I remove the boundaries of peoples, and plunder their treasures; like a bull I bring down those who sit on thrones.My hand has found like a nest the wealth of the peoples; and as one gathers eggs that have been forsaken, so I have gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved a wing or opened the mouth or chirped.”

And many brought gifts to the Lord to Jerusalem and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from that time onward.In those days Hezekiah became sick and was at the point of death, and he prayed to the Lord, and he answered him and gave him a sign.But Hezekiah did not make return according to the benefit done to him, for his heart was proud. Therefore wrath came upon him and Judah and Jerusalem.
