有一位大有力量的天使舉起一塊石頭來、像大磨石、丟在海裏、說：『巴比倫大城也必這樣砰磅一下被丟下，決不能再看到了！

我必使你成為光溜溜的磐石；你必做鋪網的地方；你必不再被建造；因為我永恆主說了，主永恆主發神諭說。

『看見你的都必定睛看你，仔細打量你，說：「那使大地戰抖，使列國震動，使世界如荒野，將城市翻毁，不開釋被擄之人回家的，是這個人麼？」列國的君王都很光榮地長臥着，各在自己的陰宅裏；惟獨你被拋棄，不得進你的墳墓，好像可厭的屍身，發出被刀刺死者的臭味，墜落到陰坑的根基，如同屍身被踐踏。

地上的君王、素來同她行淫、荒淫無度的、看見她被焚燒的煙，就必為她哭泣捶胸。因怕她的苦痛、都必在遠處站着說：『有禍啊！有禍啊！大城巴比倫！大有勢力的城啊，一時之間你受判罰的時候到了！』
