“ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: What sorrow awaits Jerusalem, the city of murderers! I myself will pile up the fuel beneath her.

故主天主如是云、邑中殺人流血、禍必臨之、我必廣其火場、

“‘ Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says:“‘ Woe to the city of bloodshed! I, too, will pile the wood high.

So the Lord and King said to me,“ How terrible it will be for this city! It has so many murderers in it. I too will pile the wood high.

Therefore thus says the Lord God: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.

“‘ Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: Woe to the city of bloodshed! I myself will make the pile of kindling large.

Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the wood pile great.

‘ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Woe to the bloody city! I too will make the pyre great.

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.

Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: Woe to the city of bloodshed! I Myself will make the pile of kindling large.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.

“‘ Therefore this is what the sovereign LORD says: Woe to the city of bloodshed! I will also make the pile high.

“‘ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:“ Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.

“ What sorrow awaits you who build cities with money gained through murder and corruption!

“ Now this is what the Sovereign Lord says: What sorrow awaits Jerusalem, the city of murderers! She is a cooking pot whose corruption can’t be cleaned out. Take the meat out in random order, for no piece is better than another.

Topheth— the place of burning— has long been ready for the Assyrian king; the pyre is piled high with wood. The breath of the Lord, like fire from a volcano, will set it ablaze.

So now I will pour out my fury on them, consuming them with the fire of my anger. I will heap on their heads the full penalty for all their sins. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!”

So tell them,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because you are all worthless slag, I will bring you to my crucible in Jerusalem.Just as silver, copper, iron, lead, and tin are melted down in a furnace, I will melt you down in the heat of my fury.I will gather you together and blow the fire of my anger upon you,and you will melt like silver in fierce heat. Then you will know that I, the Lord, have poured out my fury on you.’”

And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live,looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames.

Since they shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets, you have given them blood to drink. It is their just reward.”

The grapes were trampled in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed from the winepress in a stream about 180 miles long and as high as a horse’s bridle.

What sorrow awaits Nineveh, the city of murder and lies! She is crammed with wealth and is never without victims.

The great city of Babylon split into three sections, and the cities of many nations fell into heaps of rubble. So God remembered all of Babylon’s sins, and he made her drink the cup that was filled with the wine of his fierce wrath.

And don’t forget Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, which were filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God’s judgment.

“ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.And now, look, your house is abandoned. And you will never see me again until you say,‘ Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

Even the strongest will quake with terror, and princes will flee when they see your battle flags,” says the Lord, whose fire burns in Zion, whose flame blazes from Jerusalem.

“ But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars— their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
