Present a parable to the rebellious house and say to them,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Put on the pot, put it on and also pour water into it;

當為此悖逆之族設譬喻、告之曰、主天主如是云、當置釜於火、置而傾水其中、

Tell this rebellious people a parable and say to them:‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says:“‘ Put on the cooking pot; put it on and pour water into it.

Your people refuse to obey me. So tell them a story. Say to them,‘ The Lord and King told me,“‘ “Put a cooking pot on the fire. Pour water into it.

And utter a parable to the rebellious house and say to them, Thus says the Lord God:“ Set on the pot, set it on; pour in water also;

Then give these rebels an illustration with this message from the Sovereign Lord:“ Put a pot on the fire, and pour in some water.

Now speak a parable to the rebellious house. Tell them,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: Put the pot on the fire— put it on, and then pour water into it!

And utter a parable to the rebellious house, and say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord GOD:“ Put on a pot, set it on, And also pour water into it.

And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it:

Now speak a parable to the rebellious house. Tell them: This is what the Lord God says: Put the pot on the fire— put it on, and then pour water into it!

And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set[ it] on, and also pour water into it:

Recite a proverb to this rebellious house and say to them,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says:“‘ Set on the pot, set it on, pour water in it too;

Utter a parable to the rebellious house, and tell them,‘ The Lord Yahweh says,“ Put the cauldron on the fire. Put it on, and also pour water into it.

“ Son of man, ask a riddle and present a parable to the house of Israel,

Then I said,“ Oh, Lord God! They are saying of me,‘ Is he not just speaking in riddles?’ ”

who say,‘ The time is not near to build houses. This city is the pot and we are the meat.’

And as for you, son of man, you are not to fear them nor fear their words, though thistles and thorns are with you and you sit on scorpions; you are not to fear their words nor be dismayed at their presence, since they are a rebellious house.

Listen, heavens, and hear, earth; For the Lord has spoken:“ Sons I have raised and brought up, But they have revolted against Me.

Then He said to me,“ Son of man, I am sending you to the sons of Israel, to a rebellious people who have rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have revolted against Me to this very day.

‘ Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ Woe to the bloody city, To the pot in which there is rust And whose rust has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, Without making a choice.

I will open my mouth in a parable; I will tell riddles of old,

“ Woe to the rebellious children,” declares the Lord,“ Who execute a plan, but not Mine, And make an alliance, but not of My Spirit, In order to add sin to sin;

“ Now you, son of man, listen to what I am speaking to you; do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth wide and eat what I am giving you.”

For this is a rebellious people, false sons, Sons who refuse to listen To the instruction of the Lord;

“ Say now to the rebellious house,‘ Do you not know what these things mean?’ Say,‘ Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, took its king and leaders, and brought them to him in Babylon.

And He said,“ To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest they are told in parables, so that while seeing they may not see, and while hearing they may not understand.

And the word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying,“ What do you see?” And I said,“ I see a boiling pot, facing away from the north.”

“ You men who are stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did.

and say,‘ What was your mother? A lioness among lions! She lay down among young lions, She raised her cubs.When she brought up one of her cubs, He became a young lion, And he learned to tear his prey; He devoured people.Then nations heard about him; He was caught in their trap, And they brought him with hooks To the land of Egypt.When she saw, as she waited, That her hope was lost, She took another of her cubs And made him a young lion.And he walked about among the lions, He became a young lion; He learned to tear his prey; He devoured people.He destroyed their palaces And laid waste their cities; And the land and its fullness were appalled Because of the sound of his roaring.Then nations set against him On every side from their provinces, And they spread their net over him; He was caught in their trap.They put him in a wooden collar with hooks And brought him to the king of Babylon; They brought him in hunting nets So that his voice would no longer be heard On the mountains of Israel.Your mother was like a vine in your vineyard, Planted by the waters; It was fruitful and thick with branches Because of abundant waters.And it had strong stems fit for scepters of rulers, And its height was raised above the clouds So that it was seen in its height with the mass of its branches.But it was uprooted in fury; It was thrown down to the ground; And the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong stem was torn out So that it withered; The fire consumed it.And now it is planted in the wilderness, In a dry and thirsty land.And fire has gone out from its stem; It has consumed its shoots and fruit, So that there is no strong stem in it, A scepter to rule.’ ” This is a song of mourning, and has become a song of mourning.

This city will not be a pot for you, nor will you be meat in the midst of it; I will judge you to the border of Israel.

For I the Lord will speak whatever word I speak, and it will be performed. It will no longer be delayed, for in your days, you rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it,” declares the Lord God.’ ”

And they were seeking to seize Him, and yet they feared the people, for they understood that He told the parable against them. And so they left Him and went away.

“ Son of man, you live in the midst of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see but do not see, ears to hear but do not hear; for they are a rebellious house.

On that day they will take up against you a song of mocking And utter a song of mourning and say,‘ We are completely destroyed! He exchanges the share of my people; How He removes it from me! To the apostate He apportions our fields.’

Like emery harder than flint I have made your forehead. Do not be afraid of them or be dismayed before them, since they are a rebellious house.”

Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of the city are the meat and this city is the pot; but I will bring you out of it.

But they rebelled And grieved His Holy Spirit; Therefore He turned Himself to become their enemy, He fought against them.

Because of the wrath of the Lord she will not be inhabited, But she will be completely desolate; Everyone who passes by Babylon will be horrified And will hiss because of all her wounds.Draw up your battle lines against Babylon on every side, All of you who bend the bow; Shoot at her, do not spare your arrows, For she has sinned against the Lord.
