爾曹必為我以西結所為者、不掩爾口、不食人為喪事所供之食物、

And you will do as I have done. You will not cover your mustache and beard or eat the customary food of mourners.

So do what Ezekiel did. Do not cover your mustache and beard. Do not eat the food people eat to comfort them when someone dies.

Then you will do as Ezekiel has done. You will not mourn in public or console yourselves by eating the food brought by friends.

Then you will do just as I have done: You will not cover your mustache or eat the bread of mourners.

And you will do just as I have done; you will not cover your mustache, and you will not eat the bread of other people.

And you shall do as I have done; you shall not cover your lips nor eat man’s bread of sorrow.

We must not mention the name of the Lord.”

Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows made no lamentation.

At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his stallions, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of their wheels, the fathers look not back to their children, so feeble are their hands,

Those who survive him the pestilence buries, and his widows do not weep.

They shall die of deadly diseases. They shall not be lamented, nor shall they be buried. They shall be as dung on the surface of the ground. They shall perish by the sword and by famine, and their dead bodies shall be food for the birds of the air and for the beasts of the earth.“ For thus says the Lord: Do not enter the house of mourning, or go to lament or grieve for them, for I have taken away my peace from this people, my steadfast love and mercy, declares the Lord.Both great and small shall die in this land. They shall not be buried, and no one shall lament for them or cut himself or make himself bald for them.No one shall break bread for the mourner, to comfort him for the dead, nor shall anyone give him the cup of consolation to drink for his father or his mother.

“ Son of man, behold, I am about to take the delight of your eyes away from you at a stroke; yet you shall not mourn or weep, nor shall your tears run down.Sigh, but not aloud; make no mourning for the dead. Bind on your turban, and put your shoes on your feet; do not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.”
