Then set the empty pot on the coals till it becomes hot and its copper glows, so that its impurities may be melted and its deposit burned away.

Then set the empty pot on the coals. Let it get hot. Let its copper glow. Then what is not pure in it will melt. Its scum will be burned away.

攻城的迦勒底人必来放火焚烧这城和城里的房屋；人曾在这房顶上向巴力烧香，向别神献浇酒祭，惹我发怒。

“在那日，因罪恶与污秽的缘故，必有一泉源为大卫家和耶路撒冷的居民而开。”万军之耶和华说：“在那日，我要从地上除灭偶像的名，使它不再被记得；我也必使这地不再有先知，不再有污秽的灵。

他们必剥去你的衣服，夺取你美丽的宝物。这样，我必止息你的淫行和你从埃及地就开始犯的淫乱，使你不再仰望亚述，也不再追念埃及。

若有人用金银、宝石，草木、禾秸，在这根基上建造，各人的工程必将显露，因为那日子要将它显明，有火把它暴露出来，这火要试炼各人的工程怎样。

你们即使击败与你们争战的迦勒底全军，他们当中剩下受伤的人也必各自从帐棚里起来，用火焚烧这城。’”

我要把你驱散到列国，分散在列邦。我也必除掉你们中间的污秽。你在列国眼前因自己所做的被侮辱，你就知道我是耶和华。”耶和华的话临到我，说：“人子啊，我看以色列家为渣滓。他们是炉中的铜、锡、铁、铅，是炼银的渣滓。所以主耶和华如此说：因你们全都成为渣滓，所以，看哪，我必将你们聚集在耶路撒冷中。人怎样把银、铜、铁、铅、锡聚在炉中，吹火使它熔化；照样，我也要在我的怒气和愤怒中聚集你们，把你们安置在城中，使你们熔化。我必聚集你们，把我烈怒的火吹在你们身上，你们就在其中熔化。银子怎样在炉中熔化，你们也必照样在城中熔化，因此就知道是我—耶和华把愤怒倾倒在你们身上。”耶和华的话临到我，说：

我必洒清水在你们身上，你们就洁净了。我要洁净你们，使你们脱离一切的污秽，弃绝一切的偶像。

我必反手对付你，如碱炼净你的渣滓，除尽你的杂质。

我必从你们中间除尽叛逆和得罪我的人；我将他们从所寄居的地方领出来，他们却不得进入以色列地，你们就知道我是耶和华。

你若不归顺巴比伦王的官长，这城必交在迦勒底人手中。他们必用火焚烧，你也不得脱离他们的手。”

这军队必用石头打死她们，用刀剑杀害她们，又杀戮她们的儿女，用火焚烧她们的房屋。我必使这地不再有淫行，所有的妇女都受警戒，不再效法你们的淫行。

所以，雅各的罪孽藉此得赦免，除罪的效果尽在乎此；他使祭坛的石头变为粉碎的石灰，使亚舍拉和香坛不再立起。

他焚烧了耶和华的殿、王宫和耶路撒冷的房屋；用火焚烧所有大户人家的房屋。

除灭你国中的城镇，拆毁你一切的堡垒；除掉你手中的邪术，你那里也不再有占卜的人。我必从你中间除灭雕刻的偶像和柱像，你就不再跪拜自己手所造的；我必从你中间拔除亚舍拉，毁灭你的城镇；

这全地的人，三分之二将被剪除而死，三分之一仍必存留。这是耶和华说的。我要使这三分之一经过火，熬炼他们，如熬炼银子；试炼他们，如试炼金子。他们要求告我的名，我必应允他们。我说：“这是我的子民。”他们要说：“耶和华是我的上帝。”
