Then set the empty pot on the coals till it becomes hot and its copper glows, so that its impurities may be melted and its deposit burned away.

他們要剝下你的衣服，奪去你的珠寶。我要藉此制止你從埃及染上的淫亂和放蕩，使你不再嚮往埃及。

人們用金、銀、寶石、草、木或禾稭在這根基上建造，每個人的工程將來都會顯明出來，因為到了審判的日子，必用火試驗各人工程的品質。

即使你們能打敗迦勒底全軍，他們營中受傷的殘兵也必起來燒毀這城。』」

但如果你不出去向巴比倫王的將領投降，這城必落在迦勒底人手裡，被付之一炬，你也逃不掉。』」

這些人要用石頭打死她們，用刀殺戮她們和她們的兒女，用火燒毀她們的房屋。這樣，我便制止了這地方的淫亂，所有的婦女都引以為戒，不敢效法她們。

藉此，雅各家的罪惡必得到赦免，他們罪惡被除掉後所結的果實是：打碎假神祭壇的石頭，推倒亞舍拉神像和香壇。

放火焚燒耶和華的殿、王宮及城內所有的房屋。他燒毀了所有重要建築。

我要摧毀你們境內的城邑，拆除你們所有的堡壘。我要除掉你們手中的巫術，使你們那裡不再有占卜的。我要從你們中間除去雕刻的神像和神柱，使你們不再跪拜自己所造的。我要從你們中間剷除亞舍拉神像，毀滅你們的偶像。

地上三分之二的人必遭剷除、毀滅，只剩下三分之一的人存活。這是耶和華說的。我必使這三分之一的人受到火一般的考驗；我必像熬煉銀子一樣熬煉他們，像試煉金子一樣試煉他們。他們必呼求我的名，我必回應他們。我必說，『這是我的子民。』他們必說，『耶和華是我們的上帝。』」
