“ Then Oholah lusted after other lovers instead of me, and she gave her love to the Assyrian officers.

“ Oholah acted like a prostitute even though she was mine. She lusted after her lovers, the Assyrians: warriors

“ Oholah prostituted herself while she was Mine; and she lusted after her lovers, after the Assyrians, her neighbors,

“ Oholah played the harlot even though she was Mine; And she lusted for her lovers, the neighboring Assyrians,

“ Oholah played the prostitute when she was mine. She doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbors,

[ And] Pul the king of Assyria came against the land: and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.

Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.

When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah[ saw] his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound.

So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I[ am] thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.

Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians, because thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied.

For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.

Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, with all them[ that were] the chosen men of Assyria, and with all on whom she doted: with all their idols she defiled herself.

And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all[ things] as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh[ is as] the flesh of asses, and whose issue[ is like] the issue of horses.

And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

Wherefore I have delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted.

It shall be also carried unto Assyria[ for] a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

She doted upon the Assyrians[ her] neighbours, captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men.

And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.

And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who did sin, and who made Israel to sin.

Because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and which he made Israel sin, by his provocation wherewith he provoked the LORD God of Israel to anger.

Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all[ them] that thou hast loved, with all[ them] that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.

And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea.

A drought[ is] upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it[ is] the land of graven images, and they are mad upon[ their] idols.

Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:

For[ so] it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.And the children of Israel did secretly[ those] things that[ were] not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as[ did] the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets,[ and by] all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments[ and] my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that[ were] round about them,[ concerning] whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images,[ even] two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.
