這時候，律法教師和法利賽人帶來一個通姦時被捉的女人，讓她站在眾人面前，然後問耶穌：「老師，這個女人是在通姦時被捉到的。按摩西的律法，我們要用石頭把她打死，你說該怎麼處置她呢？」他們這樣問是要使耶穌落在他們的圈套裡，可以有藉口控告祂。耶穌卻只是彎著腰用指頭在地上寫字。他們不斷地追問耶穌，於是祂直起腰來，對他們說：「你們中間誰沒有罪，誰就先拿石頭打她吧。」

然而，我吩咐我僕人——眾先知的訓言和律例豈不應驗在你們祖先的頭上了嗎？後來他們悔改了，說，萬軍之耶和華按著我們的所作所為報應了我們，正如祂所言。』」

就要把她帶到她父親的家門前，由本城的人用石頭打死她。因為她婚前淫亂，在以色列做了可恥的事。你們必須除掉你們中間的罪惡。「如果有人與有夫之婦通姦，必須處死姦夫和淫婦，這樣就從以色列除掉了罪惡。「如果有人在城中遇見已經訂婚的女子，與她行淫，你們必須把二人帶到城門口，用石頭打死他們。那女子該死，因為她在城中卻沒有高聲呼救；那男子該死，因為他姦污了別人的妻子。你們必須除去你們中間的罪惡。

因此，萬軍之上帝耶和華對我說：「因為他們說了這話，我要使我的話在你口中成為火，使他們像柴一樣被燒毀。

耶和華又對我說：「人子啊，你要審判阿荷拉和阿荷利巴，指出她們的醜行。她們淫蕩，手上沾滿血腥，與偶像淫亂，把為我所生的兒女燒死獻給偶像。同時，她們還在同一天玷污我的聖所，褻瀆我的安息日，她們焚燒自己的兒女獻祭給偶像，並在當天進入我的聖所，褻瀆聖所。這就是她們在我聖所裡的惡行。

如果有祭司的女兒做妓女，辱沒自己，她就是辱沒自己的父親，必須燒死她。
