耶羅波安心裏說：「恐怕這國仍歸大衛家；這民若上耶路撒冷去，在耶和華的殿裏獻祭，他們的心必歸向他們的主－猶大王羅波安，就把我殺了，仍歸猶大王羅波安。」耶羅波安王就籌劃定妥，鑄造了兩個金牛犢，對眾民說：「以色列人哪，你們上耶路撒冷去實在是難；這就是領你們出埃及地的神。」他就把牛犢一隻安在伯特利，一隻安在但。這事叫百姓陷在罪裏，因為他們往但去拜那牛犢。耶羅波安在邱壇那裏建殿，將那不屬利未人的凡民立為祭司。耶羅波安定八月十五日為節期，像在猶大的節期一樣，自己上壇獻祭。他在伯特利也這樣向他所鑄的牛犢獻祭，又將立為邱壇的祭司安置在伯特利。他在八月十五日，就是他私自所定的月日，為以色列人立作節期的日子，在伯特利上壇燒香。

以色列眾人聽見耶羅波安回來了，就打發人去請他到會眾面前，立他作以色列眾人的王。除了猶大支派以外，沒有順從大衛家的。

在撒冷有他的帳幕；在錫安有他的居所。

願你晝夜看顧這殿，就是你應許立為你名的居所；求你垂聽僕人向此處禱告的話。

並且你將給我所生的兒女焚獻給他。

「你去向耶路撒冷人的耳中喊叫說，耶和華如此說：你幼年的恩愛，婚姻的愛情，你怎樣在曠野，在未曾耕種之地跟隨我，我都記得。那時以色列歸耶和華為聖，作為土產初熟的果子；凡吞吃它的必算為有罪，災禍必臨到他們。這是耶和華說的。

王就羨慕你的美貌；因為他是你的主，你當敬拜他。泰爾的民必來送禮；民中的富足人也必向你求恩。王女在宮裏極其榮華；她的衣服是用金線繡的。她要穿錦繡的衣服，被引到王前；隨從她的陪伴童女也要被帶到你面前。她們要歡喜快樂被引導；她們要進入王宮。你的子孫要接續你的列祖；你要立他們在全地作王。

他們也必帶多人來攻擊你，用石頭打死你，用刀劍刺透你，

我的弟兄們，這樣說來，你們藉着基督的身體，在律法上也是死了，叫你們歸於別人，就是歸於那從死裏復活的，叫我們結果子給神。
