耶羅波安心裡說：“現在這國仍然要歸回大衛家。這民若是上去，在耶路撒冷耶和華的殿裡獻祭，這民的心就必歸向他們的主猶大王羅波安，他們必把我殺了，然後回到猶大王羅波安那裡去。”王打定了主意，就做了兩個金牛犢，對眾民說：“以色列人哪，你們上耶路撒冷去實在夠了。看哪，這是你們的神，就是從埃及地領你們上來的那位。”他就把一個牛犢安放在伯特利，一個安放在但。這事成了以色列人的罪，因為眾民都到但那個牛犢面前敬拜。耶羅波安在邱壇那裡建殿，把不是利未子孫的平民立為祭司。耶羅波安又定了八月十五日為節期，像在猶大的節期一樣，他自己在祭壇上獻祭，他在伯特利也是這樣向他所鑄造的牛犢獻祭；他又在伯特利為他所建造的邱壇設立祭司。八月十五日，就是他心裡私定作為以色列人節期的日子，他在伯特利在自己所建的祭壇上獻祭燒香。

以色列眾人聽說耶羅波安回來了，就派人去請他到會眾面前，立他作以色列的王；除了猶大支派以外，沒有跟隨大衛家的。

他的帳棚是在撒冷，他的居所是在錫安。

願你的眼睛晝夜看顧這殿，看顧你所說‘我的名要留在那裡’的地方。願你垂聽你僕人向這地方所發的禱告。

你更把你的兒女，就是你給我所生的兒女，獻給它們作食物；你所行的淫亂還算是小事嗎？

“你去在耶路撒冷人的耳中呼叫，說：‘耶和華這樣說：你年輕時的恩愛，新婚時的愛情，你怎樣在曠野、在未曾耕種之地跟從我，我都記得。那時，以色列歸耶和華為聖，作他初熟的土產。吞吃她的，都算為有罪，災禍必臨到他們。’”這是耶和華的宣告。

王就愛慕你的美麗；因為他是你的主，你要向他俯伏。推羅的居民（“居民”原文作“女子”）必帶著禮物而來；民間富有的人要向你求恩。王所愛的女子在宮裡，極其榮華；她的衣服全是用金線繡成的。她身穿刺繡的衣服，被引到王的面前；她後面伴隨的童女，也都被帶到你的面前。她們歡喜快樂被引到王那裡；她們要進入王宮。你的子孫必接續你的列祖；你要立他們作全地的王。

他們必帶一大群人上來攻擊你，用石頭打死你，用他們的刀把你砍碎。

這樣，我的弟兄們，你們藉著基督的身體，對律法來說也已經死了，使你們歸屬另一位，就是那從死人中復活的，為的是要我們結果子給神。
