亚哈斯派使者到亚述王提革拉‧毗列色那里，说：“我是你的仆人，你的儿子。现在亚兰王和以色列王攻击我，求你上来，救我脱离他们的手。”亚哈斯将耶和华殿里和王宫府库里所有的金银都送给亚述王为礼物。亚述王答应了他，上去攻打大马士革，攻下了城，杀了利汛，把居民掳到吉珥。亚哈斯王到大马士革迎接亚述王提革拉‧毗列色，在大马士革看见一座坛。亚哈斯王把坛的规模和样式，以及作法的细节，送到乌利亚祭司那里。乌利亚祭司照着亚哈斯王从大马士革所送来的一切，在亚哈斯王还未从大马士革回来之前，筑了一座坛。王从大马士革回来，看见坛，走近坛前，在坛上献祭。他烧燔祭和素祭，献浇酒祭，将平安祭牲的血洒在坛上。他移动耶和华面前的铜坛，从殿的前面，新坛和耶和华殿的中间，搬到新坛的北边。亚哈斯王吩咐乌利亚祭司说：“早晨的燔祭、晚上的素祭，王的燔祭、素祭，国内众百姓的燔祭、素祭、浇酒祭都要烧在大坛上。燔祭牲和其他祭牲的血全都要洒在这坛上。至于铜坛，我要作求问之用。”

有巴比伦人、迦勒底众人、比割人、书亚人、哥亚人，还有亚述众人与他们一起，都是俊美的年轻人。他们是省长、副省长、将军、有名声的，全都骑着马。

你尚且不满意，又与亚述人行淫，但与他们行淫之后，仍不满足；
