“人子啊，你要向这地说：你是未被洁净之地，在我盛怒的日子，没有雨水在其上。

“ Son of man, say to the land,‘ You are a land that has not been cleansed or rained on in the day of wrath.’

“ Son of man, speak to the land. Tell it,‘ You have not been washed clean with rain. That’s because I am angry with you.’

这百姓还没有归向击打他们的主，也没有寻求万军之耶和华。

不听从命令，不领受训诲，不倚靠耶和华，不亲近它的上帝。

我责打你们的儿女是徒然的，他们不受管教。你们自己的刀吞灭你们的先知，好像残害人的狮子。

这亚哈斯王在急难的时候，越发得罪耶和华。

风箱吹火，铅被烧毁，炼而又炼，终是徒然，因为恶劣的还未除掉。

众祭司长和百姓也多多犯罪，效法列国一切可憎的事，玷污耶和华在耶路撒冷分别为圣的殿。耶和华—他们列祖的上帝因为爱惜自己的百姓和居所，一再差遣使者去警戒他们。他们却嘲笑上帝的使者，藐视他的话，讥诮他的先知，以致耶和华向他的百姓大发烈怒，甚至无法可救。

耶和华啊，你的眼目不是在寻找诚实吗？你击打他们，他们却不伤恸；你摧毁他们，他们仍不领受管教。他们使脸刚硬过于磐石，不肯回头。

虽然我想洁净你污秽的淫行，你却不洁净，你的污秽再也不能洁净，直等我止息了向你发的愤怒。

你们为什么屡次悖逆，继续受责打呢？你们已经满头疼痛，全心发昏；

“论到你奉耶和华的名向我们所说的话，我们必不听从。我们定要照我们口中所说的一切话去做，向天后烧香，献浇酒祭，按着我们与我们祖先、君王、官长在犹大城镇和耶路撒冷街市上素常所做的一样；因为那时我们得以吃饱、享福乐，并未遇见灾祸。自从我们停止向天后烧香，献浇酒祭，我们倒缺乏这一切，又因刀剑饥荒灭绝。”妇女们说：“我们向天后烧香，献浇酒祭，做天后像的饼供奉它，向它献浇酒祭，难道我们的丈夫没有参与吗？”
