Son of man, say unto her, Thou[ art] the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.

“ Son of man, say to the land,‘ You are a land that has not been cleansed or rained on in the day of wrath.’

“ Son of man, speak to the land. Tell it,‘ You have not been washed clean with rain. That’s because I am angry with you.’

“ Son of man, say to her, You are a land that is not cleansed or rained upon in the day of indignation.

“ Son of man, give the people of Israel this message: In the day of my indignation, you will be like a polluted land, a land without rain.

“ Son of man, say to her,‘ You are a land that has not been cleansed, that has not received rain in the day of indignation.’

“ Son of man, say to her,‘ You are a land that is not clean or rained on in the day of indignation.’

For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.

She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God.

In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.

And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the LORD: this[ is that] king Ahaz.

The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.

Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till[ there was] no remedy.

O LORD,[ are] not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them,[ but] they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

In thy filthiness[ is] lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.

Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

[ As for] the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for[ then] had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all[ things], and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?
