People put silver, copper, iron, lead and tin into a furnace. They melt it with a blazing fire. In the same way, I will gather you. I will pour out my burning anger on you. I will put you inside the city and melt you.

“‘ Now your impurity is lewdness. Because I tried to cleanse you but you would not be cleansed from your impurity, you will not be clean again until my wrath against you has subsided.

At that time this people and Jerusalem will be told,“ A scorching wind from the barren heights in the desert blows toward my people, but not to winnow or cleanse;a wind too strong for that comes from me. Now I pronounce my judgments against them.”

I will gather you and I will blow on you with my fiery wrath, and you will be melted inside her.

“ See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc;

I will pour out my wrath on you and breathe out my fiery anger against you; I will deliver you into the hands of brutal men, men skilled in destruction.You will be fuel for the fire, your blood will be shed in your land, you will be remembered no more; for I the Lord have spoken.’”
