And it shall be when they say to you,‘ Why are you sighing?’ that you shall answer,‘ Because of the news; when it comes, every heart will melt, all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it is coming and shall be brought to pass,’ says the Lord GOD.”

如彼問爾何為太息、必曰、因聞音耗、其事將至、使眾心怯、手疲志餒、膝弱如水、其事將至、其言必成、主耶和華言之矣、○

如彼問爾、何為太息、必曰、因風聞將來之事、眾人喪膽、手疲膝倦、懦弱如水、禍患迫至、主耶和華已言之矣。

如彼問爾曰、緣何嗟嘆、爾則曰、因風聞將來之事、人皆膽怯、手疲心惶、膝弱如水、其事必至必成、此乃主天主所言、○

And when they ask you,‘ Why are you groaning?’ you shall say,‘ Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will melt with fear and every hand go limp; every spirit will become faint and every leg will be wet with urine.’ It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

They will ask you,‘ Why are you groaning?’ Then you will say,‘ Because of the news that is coming. The hearts of all the people will melt away in fear. Their hands will not be able to help them. Their spirits will grow weak. And they will be so afraid they’ll wet themselves.’ The news is coming! You can be sure those things will happen,” announces the Lord and King.

And when they say to you,‘ Why do you groan?’ you shall say,‘ Because of the news that it is coming. Every heart will melt, and all hands will be feeble; every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it is coming, and it will be fulfilled,’” declares the Lord God.

When they ask why you are groaning, tell them,‘ I groan because of the terrifying news I have heard. When it comes true, the boldest heart will melt with fear; all strength will disappear. Every spirit will faint; strong knees will become as weak as water. And the Sovereign Lord says: It is coming! It’s on its way!’”

And when they ask you,‘ Why are you groaning?’ then say,‘ Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will melt, and every hand will become weak. Every spirit will be discouraged, and all knees will run with urine. Yes, it is coming and it will happen. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.’”

And when they say to you,‘ Why are you groaning?’ you shall say,‘ Because of the news, for it is coming; and every heart will melt, all hands will go limp, every spirit will be disheartened, and all knees will drip with water. Behold, it is coming and it will happen,’ declares the Lord God.”

And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt say, Because of the tidings, for it cometh; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and it shall be done, saith the Lord Jehovah.

And when they ask you,‘ Why are you groaning?’ then say: Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will melt, and every hand will become weak. Every spirit will be discouraged, and every knee will turn to water. Yes, it is coming and it will happen.” This is the declaration of the Lord God.

When they ask you,‘ Why are you groaning?’ you will reply,‘ Because of the report that has come. Every heart will melt with fear and every hand will be limp; everyone will faint and every knee will be wet with urine.’ Pay attention– it is coming and it will happen, declares the sovereign LORD.”

It shall be, when they ask you,‘ Why do you sigh?’ that you shall say,‘ Because of the news, for it comes! Every heart will melt, all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it comes, and it shall be done, says the Lord Yahweh.’”

Every hand will be feeble, And every knee will be as weak as water.

Disaster will come upon disaster, And rumor will be upon rumor. Then they will seek a vision from a prophet; But the law will perish from the priest, And counsel from the elders.

“ The king of Babylon has heard the report about them, And his hands grow feeble; Anguish has taken hold of him, Pangs as of a woman in childbirth.

Therefore all hands will be limp, Every man’s heart will melt,

She is empty, desolate, and waste! The heart melts, and the knees shake; Much pain is in every side, And all their faces are drained of color.

Because of this our heart is faint; Because of these things our eyes grow dim;

Thus says the Lord:“ Behold, a people comes from the north country, And a great nation will be raised from the farthest parts of the earth.They will lay hold on bow and spear; They are cruel and have no mercy; Their voice roars like the sea; And they ride on horses, As men of war set in array against you, O daughter of Zion.”We have heard the report of it; Our hands grow feeble. Anguish has taken hold of us, Pain as of a woman in labor.

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.

Against Damascus.“ Hamath and Arpad are shamed, For they have heard bad news. They are fainthearted; There is trouble on the sea; It cannot be quiet.

Then I said,“ Ah, Lord God! They say of me,‘ Does he not speak parables?’”

“ And you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD to the land of Israel:‘ An end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.Now the end has come upon you, And I will send My anger against you; I will judge you according to your ways, And I will repay you for all your abominations.My eye will not spare you, Nor will I have pity; But I will repay your ways, And your abominations will be in your midst; Then you shall know that I am the Lord!’“ Thus says the Lord GOD:‘ A disaster, a singular disaster; Behold, it has come!An end has come, The end has come; It has dawned for you; Behold, it has come!Doom has come to you, you who dwell in the land; The time has come, A day of trouble is near, And not of rejoicing in the mountains.Now upon you I will soon pour out My fury, And spend My anger upon you; I will judge you according to your ways, And I will repay you for all your abominations.‘ My eye will not spare, Nor will I have pity; I will repay you according to your ways, And your abominations will be in your midst. Then you shall know that I am the Lord who strikes.‘ Behold, the day! Behold, it has come! Doom has gone out; The rod has blossomed, Pride has budded.Violence has risen up into a rod of wickedness; None of them shall remain, None of their multitude, None of them; Nor shall there be wailing for them.The time has come, The day draws near.‘ Let not the buyer rejoice, Nor the seller mourn, For wrath is on their whole multitude.

‘ And as for those of you who are left, I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a shaken leaf shall cause them to flee; they shall flee as though fleeing from a sword, and they shall fall when no one pursues.

As often as it goes out it will take you; For morning by morning it will pass over, And by day and by night; It will be a terror just to understand the report.”

Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees,

And it was told to the house of David, saying,“ Syria’s forces are deployed in Ephraim.” So his heart and the heart of his people were moved as the trees of the woods are moved with the wind.

men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Then the chiefs of Edom will be dismayed; The mighty men of Moab, Trembling will take hold of them; All the inhabitants of Canaan will melt away.

And even he who is valiant, whose heart is like the heart of a lion, will melt completely. For all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man, and those who are with him are valiant men.

“ Son of man, what is this proverb that you people have about the land of Israel, which says,‘ The days are prolonged, and every vision fails’?Tell them therefore,‘ Thus says the Lord God:“ I will lay this proverb to rest, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel.”’ But say to them,‘“ The days are at hand, and the fulfillment of every vision.For no more shall there be any false vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel.For I am the Lord. I speak, and the word which I speak will come to pass; it will no more be postponed; for in your days, O rebellious house, I will say the word and perform it,” says the Lord God.’”Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying,“ Son of man, look, the house of Israel is saying,‘ The vision that he sees is for many days from now, and he prophesies of times far off.’Therefore say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord God:“ None of My words will be postponed any more, but the word which I speak will be done,” says the Lord God.’”

Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees.

And the people said to me,“ Will you not tell us what these things signify to us, that you behave so?”

I would comfort myself in sorrow; My heart is faint in me.

“ Son of man, has not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said to you,‘ What are you doing?’Say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord God:“ This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem and all the house of Israel who are among them.”’Say,‘ I am a sign to you. As I have done, so shall it be done to them; they shall be carried away into captivity.’

“ The officers shall speak further to the people, and say,‘ What man is there who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest the heart of his brethren faint like his heart.’

and said to the men:“ I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you.For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed.And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.

So it was, when all the kings of the Amorites who were on the west side of the Jordan, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, that their heart melted; and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the children of Israel.

Surely you have instructed many, And you have strengthened weak hands.Your words have upheld him who was stumbling, And you have strengthened the feeble knees;

therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel:‘ Behold, I am bringing such calamity upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both his ears will tingle.
