But I acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned before the Gentiles among whom they were, in whose sight I had made Myself known to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt.

然為我名之故、別有施行、免我名見辱於其所處之國、因我顯見、導我民出埃及、彼目睹之也、

恐列國之民、以我為無能、為藐視我名、故我顯現、導之出埃及、入於曠野、使列國人目睹。

但因彼居異邦民中、故我未行是、恐我名被異邦人褻慢、蓋我已在異邦民目前、顯現於彼、導之出伊及地、

But for the sake of my name, I brought them out of Egypt. I did it to keep my name from being profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they lived and in whose sight I had revealed myself to the Israelites.

I wanted my name to be honored. So I brought my people out of Egypt. I did it to keep my name from being treated as if it were not holy. I didn’t want this to happen in front of the nations around my people. I had made myself known to Israel in the sight of those nations.

But I acted for the sake of my name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they lived, in whose sight I made myself known to them in bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

But I didn’t do it, for I acted to protect the honor of my name. I would not allow shame to be brought on my name among the surrounding nations who saw me reveal myself by bringing the Israelites out of Egypt.

But I acted for the sake of my name, so that it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations they were living among, in whose sight I had made myself known to Israel by bringing them out of Egypt.

But I acted for the sake of My name, that it would not be defiled in the sight of the nations among whom they lived, in whose sight I made Myself known to them by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

But I acted because of My name, so that it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations they were living among, in whose sight I had made Myself known to Israel by bringing them out of Egypt.

But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they[ were], in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

I acted for the sake of my reputation, so that I would not be profaned before the nations among whom they lived, before whom I revealed myself by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

But I worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known to them, in bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

Nevertheless I withdrew My hand and acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the Gentiles, in whose sight I had brought them out.

So I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel, and I will not let them profane My holy name anymore. Then the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.

But I acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned before the Gentiles, in whose sight I had brought them out.

But I had concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations wherever they went.“ Therefore say to the house of Israel,‘ Thus says the Lord GOD:“ I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went.

Why should the Egyptians speak, and say,‘ He brought them out to harm them, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Your fierce wrath, and relent from this harm to Your people.

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear it, and surround us, and cut off our name from the earth. Then what will You do for Your great name?”

lest the land from which You brought us should say,“ Because the Lord was not able to bring them to the land which He promised them, and because He hated them, He has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.”

Woe to us! Who will deliver us from the hand of these mighty gods? These are the gods who struck the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wilderness.

For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people.

I would have said,“ I will dash them in pieces, I will make the memory of them to cease from among men,”Had I not feared the wrath of the enemy, Lest their adversaries should misunderstand, Lest they should say,“ Our hand is high; And it is not the Lord who has done all this.”’

For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed.

And Moses said to the Lord:“ Then the Egyptians will hear it, for by Your might You brought these people up from among them,and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that You, Lord, are among these people; that You, Lord, are seen face to face and Your cloud stands above them, and You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.Now if You kill these people as one man, then the nations which have heard of Your fame will speak, saying,‘ Because the Lord was not able to bring this people to the land which He swore to give them, therefore He killed them in the wilderness.’And now, I pray, let the power of my Lord be great, just as You have spoken, saying,‘ The Lord is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.’Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the greatness of Your mercy, just as You have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.”Then the Lord said:“ I have pardoned, according to your word;but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord—because all these men who have seen My glory and the signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have put Me to the test now these ten times, and have not heeded My voice,they certainly shall not see the land of which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who rejected Me see it.But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwell in the valley; tomorrow turn and move out into the wilderness by the Way of the Red Sea.”

So they said to him:“ From a very far country your servants have come, because of the name of the Lord your God; for we have heard of His fame, and all that He did in Egypt,and all that He did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan— to Sihon king of Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, who was at Ashtaroth.
