“ Son of man, set your face toward the south; preach against the south and prophesy against the forest of the southland.

“ Son of man, turn your attention to Judah in the south. Preach against it. Prophesy against its forests.

“ Son of man, set your face toward the southland; preach against the south, and prophesy against the forest land in the Negeb.

“ Son of man, turn and face the south and speak out against it; prophesy against the brushlands of the Negev.

“ Son of man, face the south and preach against it. Prophesy against the forest land in the Negev,

“ Son of man, set your face toward the south, and speak prophetically against the south and prophesy against the forest land of the Negev,

“ Son of man, set your face toward the south; preach against the south and prophesy against the forest land, the South,

Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the South;

“ Son of man, face the south and preach against it. Prophesy against the forest land in the Negev,

Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop[ thy word] toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field;

“ Son of man, set your face toward the south, and preach toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the South.

So now listen to the LORD’s message! You say,‘ Don’t prophesy against Israel! Don’t preach against the family of Isaac!’

“ Son of man, turn toward Jerusalem and speak out against the sanctuaries. Prophesy against the land of Israel

The gates of the towns in southern Judah will be shut tight. No one will be able to go in or out of them. All Judah will be carried off into exile. They will be completely carried off into exile.’”

This is a message about the animals in the Negev: Through a land of distress and danger, inhabited by lionesses and roaring lions, by snakes and darting adders, they transport their wealth on the backs of donkeys, their riches on the humps of camels, to a nation that cannot help them.

You must turn your face toward the siege of Jerusalem with your arm bared and prophesy against it.

Open your gates, Lebanon, so that the fire may consume your cedars.Howl, fir tree, because the cedar has fallen; the majestic trees have been destroyed. Howl, oaks of Bashan, because the impenetrable forest has fallen.

‘ Don’t preach with such impassioned rhetoric,’ they say excitedly.‘ These prophets should not preach of such things; we will not be overtaken by humiliation.’

“ Son of man, turn toward the mountains of Israel and prophesy against them:

I will send men against it to destroy it with their axes and hatchets. They will hack up its fine cedar panels and columns and throw them into the fire.

My teaching will drop like the rain, my sayings will drip like the dew, as rain drops upon the grass, and showers upon new growth.

After I had spoken, they did not respond; my words fell on them drop by drop.
