“ Will you judge them? Will you judge them, son of man? Then confront them with the detestable practices of their ancestors

“ Are you going to judge them, son of man? Will you judge them? Tell them the evil things done by their people of long ago. I hate those things.

“ Son of man, bring charges against them and condemn them. Make them realize how detestable the sins of their ancestors really were.

Yahweh said moreover to me:“ Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare to them their abominations.

Yahweh said to me,“ Don’t pray for this people for their good.When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.”Then I said,“ Ah, Lord Yahweh! Behold, the prophets tell them,‘ You will not see the sword, neither will you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.’”Then Yahweh said to me,“ The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I didn’t send them. I didn’t command them. I didn’t speak to them. They prophesy to you a lying vision, divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.

“ You stiff- necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit! As your fathers did, so you do.Which of the prophets didn’t your fathers persecute? They killed those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One, of whom you have now become betrayers and murderers.

“ Therefore don’t pray for this people. Don’t lift up cry or prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they cry to me because of their trouble.

Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, for it can’t be that a prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem.’“ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her own brood under her wings, and you refused!Behold, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me until you say,‘ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

“ Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations;and say,‘ The Lord Yahweh says to Jerusalem:“ Your origin and your birth is of the land of the Canaanite. An Amorite was your father, and your mother was a Hittite.

though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver only their own souls by their righteousness,” says the Lord Yahweh.

though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ they would deliver neither son nor daughter; they would deliver only their own souls by their righteousness.”

“ Therefore don’t pray for this people. Don’t lift up a cry or prayer for them or make intercession to me; for I will not hear you.

Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.So you testify and consent to the works of your fathers. For they killed them, and you build their tombs.Therefore also the wisdom of God said,‘ I will send to them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will kill and persecute,that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.’ Yes, I tell you, it will be required of this generation.

Then Yahweh said to me,“ Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind would not turn toward this people. Cast them out of my sight, and let them go out!

“ Now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, please judge between me and my vineyard.

Righteous men will judge them with the judgment of adulteresses and with the judgment of women who shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.

Don’t you know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and decorate the tombs of the righteous,and say,‘ If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn’t have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’Therefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets.Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the judgment of Gehenna?Therefore behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city;that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom you killed between the sanctuary and the altar.Most certainly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.“ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!
