For when I had brought them into the land, which I sware to give unto them, then they saw every high hill, and every thick tree, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering; there also they made their sweet savor, and they poured out there their drink- offerings.

我導之入迦南、踐我誓言、彼見高巒茂林、遂獻祭奉禮、焚香灌奠、干我震怒。

我導之入我所誓以賜之地、彼見崇高之山、茂盛之樹、遂在彼獻祭奉禮物、干犯我怒、又在彼焚香灌奠、

When I brought them into the land I had sworn to give them and they saw any high hill or any leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices, made offerings that aroused my anger, presented their fragrant incense and poured out their drink offerings.

But I brought them into the land. I had promised to give the land to them. Then they offered sacrifices that made me very angry. They did it on every high hill and under every green tree. There they brought their sweet- smelling incense. And there they poured out their drink offerings.

Moreover Jehovah said unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.

And I brought you into a plentiful land, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made my heritage an abomination.

ye that inflame yourselves among the oaks, under every green tree; that slay the children in the valleys, under the clefts of the rocks?Among the smooth stones of the valley is thy portion; they, they are thy lot; even to them hast thou poured a drink- offering, thou hast offered an oblation. Shall I be appeased for these things?Upon a high and lofty mountain hast thou set thy bed; thither also wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.

Moreover thou gavest them kingdoms and peoples, which thou didst allot after their portions: so they possessed the land of Sihon, even the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.Their children also multipliedst thou as the stars of heaven, and broughtest them into the land concerning which thou didst say to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.So the children went in and possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, with their kings, and the peoples of the land, that they might do with them as they would.And they took fortified cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all good things, cisterns hewn out, vineyards, and oliveyards, and fruit- trees in abundance: so they did eat, and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their back, and slew thy prophets that testified against them to turn them again unto thee, and they wrought great provocations.

sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;and I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these lands; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

In that day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:the Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite,and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim,and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.

He hath remembered his covenant for ever, The word which he commanded to a thousand generations,The covenant which he made with Abraham, And his oath unto Isaac,And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a statute, To Israel for an everlasting covenant,Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, The lot of your inheritance;

in that day I sware unto them, to bring them forth out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.

and ye have seen all that Jehovah your God hath done unto all these nations because of you; for Jehovah your God, he it is that hath fought for you.Behold, I have allotted unto you these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from the Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun.

My bread also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou didst even set it before them for a sweet savor; and thus it was, saith the Lord Jehovah.

He drove out the nations also before them, And allotted them for an inheritance by line, And made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, And kept not his testimonies;But turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers: They were turned aside like a deceitful bow.For they provoked him to anger with their high places, And moved him to jealousy with their graven images.

Moreover also I sware unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;
