I defiled them through their gifts— the sacrifice of every firstborn— that I might fill them with horror so they would know that I am the Lord.’

耶和华啊！你为什么使我们走错，离开你的道路？使我们的心刚硬，不敬畏你呢？求你为你众仆人的缘故，为你产业的各支派的缘故，回心转意吧！

你更把你的儿女，就是你给我所生的儿女，献给它们作食物；你所行的淫乱还算是小事吗？你竟宰杀了我的儿女，使他们经火，献给它们。

他们又把儿女用火烧为祭，并且占卜，行法术，出卖自己去行耶和华看为恶的事，使他发怒。

你们奉上供物，使你们的儿子经火，用你们的一切偶像玷污自己，直到今日。以色列家啊，我怎能让你们向我求问呢？主耶和华说：我指着我的永生起誓：我决不让你们向我求问。这是主耶和华的宣告。

在他们被围困和受压迫之中，就是在仇敌和寻索他们性命的人压迫他们的时候，我必使他们吞吃自己的儿女的肉，各人也彼此吃对方的肉。’

那又怎么样呢？以色列人恳切寻找的，他们没有得到，蒙拣选的人倒得着了。其余的人都成了顽固的，正如经上所记：“神给了他们麻木的灵，有眼睛却看不见，有耳朵却听不到，直到今日。”大卫也说：“愿他们的筵席成为他们的网罗、陷阱、绊脚石和报应；愿他们的眼睛昏暗，不能看见；愿他们的背脊常常弯曲。”

并且在欣嫩子谷把自己的儿女用火烧为祭，又占卜、行邪术、用法术、交鬼和通灵；作了很多耶和华看为恶的事，惹他发怒。

他又把他的儿子用火烧为祭（“把他的儿子用火烧为祭”直译是“使他的儿子经过进入火中”），并且算命、观兆，交鬼和行巫术；多行耶和华看为恶的事，惹他发怒。

并且在欣嫩子谷烧香，用火焚烧自己的儿女，像耶和华在以色列人面前驱走的外族人所行可厌恶的事一样；

你要把所有头生的奉献给耶和华，也要把你一切牲畜中所有头生的小牲口奉献给耶和华；公的都属耶和华。

他们在欣嫩子谷中，建造了巴力的邱坛，使自己的儿女经火献给摩洛。这不是我吩咐的，也没有在我心里想过；他们竟行了这可憎恶的事，使犹大犯罪。’

正如主的律法所记：“所有头生的男孩，都当称为圣归给主。”
